Can anyone say: Front Mount Intercooler?!

So they launch a revamped Evo 7, and the bottom picture is of an Evo 8? I know the middle one is of an off-roader.

I'm hoping that bottom one ISN'T an Evo 8, it doesn't look as "raw". I could be wrong.

The yellow car, is obviously the Evo VII or possibly VIII. The silver car is unknown. It might be a redesigned Galant.

That silver thing looks about the size of the Galant. Looks like a modern Hyundai Sonata

That placement of the Mitsubishi triple diamond in the central pillar of the grille on that yellow Evo VII is rather 'unfortunate' - actually without it, the front end of the Evo is alot like the Holden VT-VX Commodore.

u know, a person that loves a car, whatever it may be, a skyline, evo, silvia whatever, they will ALWAYS hate the concept or the redesigned one, because it always lookks different, and uare just not use to it yet, so im always very open minded on new things

It's official: Mitsubishi wants to sissi-fy themselves. They couldn't bring the evo7 to the US because of the front mount intercooler. Instead of taking Subaru's approach, they try and cover it up with a rather ungainly plastic denture. The posters here are right; it *is* horrid. Mitsubishi has officially worked out all the aggressive looks of the Lancer line in just 2 revisions. The evo8 (if that's what this is) looks more like a Camry with a bad front mounted intercooler job.

To top it all off, I bet this won't pass US crash tests, either. That intercooler is still *right*in*front*. It will be the first thing crushed in an impact. A minor fender-bender with a Mini will put it right in the shop. "Bumped into a taxi, eh? That'll be $3,000, please." Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water^H^H^H^H^Hauto show.

They never had the US Lancer/Rally enthusiast in mind. Bean counters are all over the world.

Well, the Sylvia's probably not a good example.

I mean, how could you not call this progression an improvement?

A reasonable point, but evolution can be handled well - look at the GT-R from R32 to R33, and then R34. All of these cars are revered.

I don't know how old those pictures are, but the silver one is no longer a concept car - it's now for sale as the Mitsubishi Outlander. I've already seen ads for it.

The yellow car is a confirmed version of the detuned EVO VIII.
The SUV in the second picture is the new Montero Sport.
The third car will be the next generation Galant (estimation).

BTW where did you got the pics?

I know that. I meant that the looks -- if this is to be the evo8 -- are just so lame, whether this is the US-non-evo-Lancer or non-US-evo8. They did with the 3000GT (flat out eliminating it), then the Eclipse (GSX to GS-T to girl's car GT; oooo, a convertible), and now the Lancer (evo6 to evo7 to evo8). I would be willing to bet some money I really can't afford on the fact that the evo8 will be more detuned than the v7 WRX over the v6. :-/

I'd rather get the 45K JDM-spec convertion than that sissy US-spec.

Dissapointing I tell you! (EVO VIII)

Feel the genuine JDM engine. (mine's has one {B17A1})
