I'm wondering which game gives the most realistic operation required driving a manual transmission car like stalling a car if not enough throttle is applied etc.

My preliminary find are these two titles on available on PC which has an open world/traffic.

  • City Car Driving
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2 (with car mods)

Appreciate if anyone can provide feedback on the two and the pros and cons of each in relation to the using proper clutch and learning the intricacies of operating a manual vehicle.

Any other titles you've come across and recommend?

It cannot be simulated on a game console. No simulator provides the physical feel of the pedals, or the reaction of the vehicle. Just get out and do it.

And it isn't that big a deal, either. If my mom could do it, then there's nobody on the planet who can't, as long as your legs work.....

Every vehicle clutch has a different bite point
Some cars have heavy duty clutches which are heavier so you need more force to disengage the clutch
You can also upgrade your cars clutch to a heavy duty one.
Cable operated clutches feel different to hydraulic operated ones.

I only had 2 manual driving lessons which I done with my full license since i learnt on an auto and when I had to get a new car I really wanted a manual, plus it meant I could double my choices when getting a new car since I no longer had to search for automatics only but could include manual

Total Cost to me $100 each lesson was $50.

The only real thing I had issues with was starting, shifting whilst driving I was very good and I rev matched quite well

The difficult thing about driving a manual is finding the clutch bite point smoothly and quickly in all situations. I'm not aware of a single sim and hardware combination out there that will simulate that physical bite point short of an expensive custom setup.

As mentioned, Live for Speed offers basically the whole experience and you can play the free demo. The biting point has kind of a short range -- not a lot of slip -- but getting familiar with everything in LFS will certainly help you to get the idea of it. 👍
