So this billboard has popped up in my town...

....and have been appearing at various locations across the UK.

It leads back to this website....

...which has to carry a 'pseudolaw loony' warning.

Anyone else in the UK (or even further afield) manged to spot one?

BTW its this nonsense http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Strawman_theory

My new name is Barack Obama apparently. Since:
A) I cannot use my own name
AND
B) Neither can he use his own name.

...:odd:

I don't get it. Is this some kind of an elaborate prank? Or a sophisticated scam?
Neither.

It's what happens when a conspiracy theory nutter with money buys advertising space.

...Oh.

I'm guessing it's UK-only thing, since I read "Crown this" and "Crown that" in the link.

Oh no they have an US equivalent, in fact the second video on the website is US in origin and the RationalWiki entry (link in my first post) covers both.

...Yeah I clicked on the second link, thinking it was about the Straw Man theory used by the legal defence attorneys. And it wasn't; first time I've heard about something like that. On top of that, I'm a bit under the weather so not everything got through to me while reading the both links.

Weird stuff.

I didn't go past the first page of the link though - I feared my laptop might get a trojan or something...

Indeed, its based around the 'Freeman on the land' nonsense, both of which are fairly well know, I've just never seen it on this scale in the UK. My first thought was that it was a viral ad campaign, but it does just appear to be loon with money to burn.

Which is why I run Linux :)

Does that names will soon be copyrighted?

Will I have to add numbers or emojis into my name?

If someone can buy billboard ad space to peddle that rubbish, then I want to buy TV ad space to show everyone's favourite freemen video........

:D

"You leave the camera outside the courtroom with your mom."

P. Barnes, what a guy.

But if you use the name Barack Obama, your name is Barack Obama, and you cannot use your own name.
Please pick another name.

The national lottery is that way, but he has his fingers crossed so I'm going this way.

Things like this are based on faulty logic and are easily discounted.

Depends on if they're behind his back or in front of him... we are on the subject of crazy beliefs after all :)

Quite. How fortunate that there are no stupid people in the world who take this stuff seriously :D

Hate to bump this thread but that loony advertising is spreading.

This was right outside where I work today.

Just sounds like complete nonsense to me.

Lots around Liverpool. Odd things, never really given them much attention. Not that they warrant any of course.
