This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:
Not seriously - there's 1000 types of bricks - but to a degree yes. I only found three relatively common brick types (only one I've seen on Speed Champions cars) in "Unkie's" packs, so yes if you need a specific brick it's a real pain, but it shouldn't massively hinder you. And those packs are 4000 Brickbux each, which you can earn in the single player.will seriously hamper the creativity
After reading this @Famine I think I will have to pass on this or least wait until there's a saleNot seriously - there's 1000 types of bricks - but to a degree yes. Don't get me wrong, I really don't like that they've put bricks in there, but the ones that are there are mostly decoration only. There's a "big bricks" pack (of large x1 plates; biggest in the standard set is 10x2x1) that's an exception.
Speaking of... I dropped these paragraphs from the review because they were better suited to the thread; I already made the point with what's there!
As you complete tasks and races you're awarded "Brickbux" (represented by folding money). You can find small sums in the wild as one-offs, but you can also pick them up through completing challenges.
Completing C-level races gives tens of Brickbux, while completing B-level races gives mid-hundreds; I've not hit the A-level yet (at level 20) but it seems reasonable they'd be worth low four-figures.
Buuuuuuuuut that's only on the first pass -- a win at B-level gave 550 the first time, and only 50 the next.
There's only a couple of dozen races, so you're looking at maybe 75,000-100,000 Brickbux available on a playthrough and only small sums if you go grinding afterwards. A quick glance at "Unkie's Emporium" on just one rotation shows that there's clearly not enough money in the game to even buy out an appreciable fraction of the store, and grinding it looks like it's beyond GT7 levels.
So that leaves you with buying them, but you don't. You can only buy coins for real money, with more coins for your money the more you buy ($4.99 for 500, up to $49.99 for 6500).
These are then exchanged for Brickbux, on a similar sliding scale of value whereby you get more per coin if you exchange more coins (1000 BB for 60 coins, 10000 BB for 500 coins, or 100000 BB for 4500 coins).
If you buy 500 coins, and exchange them for BB you get 10,000 BB - which is enough for one basic ("Neat") car, or $4.99/car.
If you buy 6500 coins and exchange them only at the maximum you get 100,000 BB (with 2000 coins remaining) - which is enough for ten basic ("Neat") cars, or $3.46/car, or five top line ("Super Awesome") cars at $6.92/car.
But the Emporium also has dozens stickers, minifigs, and brick packs and flairs at prices around 4000BB.
That's probably not far off. I did a B-Class online race before launch and got 3 Brickbux for coming third; doing 3,333 of them at 5 minutes each would earn 10,000BB in 167 hours. The reviews on Steam are saying that it will take about 167 hours of online play just to get 1 DLC car.
For the most part you'll have everything you need by playing through the game. Some are saying that it's not worth $60 but get it on sale. It's kinda like all you need to grind and/or pay to get all the things.
Yikes. That's probably not far off. I did a B-Class online race before launch and got 3 Brickbux for coming third; doing 3,333 of them at 5 minutes each would earn 10,000BB in 167 hours.
I'm waiting for some sort of sale personally. 90 CAD is a bit too much.Anyone tried it yet?
