Jabba's Sail Barge is done. It took way longer now that I'm working at a Microsoft DC instead of WFH. Overall, this set has a lot going for it:
- Jabba Big Fig
- Tons of minifigs
- great accuracy/scale
- coolness
- hidden rooms

Taking a week off from work just to relax and I can't think of a better way to do that than by building Lego. In celebration of Halloween season I am building the entire 2012 Monster Fighters theme. And a pumpkin.

Unfortunately, I've had many peices break while building these, specifically brown peices. I've seen this issue before from sets in this year. I believe it was a manufacturing defect that affected brown pieces. Shame, I'll be ordering a lot of parts.

I'll get that P1 one of these days and probably the Countach and 911. I'm jealous buddy, enjoy those builds!

I made some headlight covers for the F40. The plastic I had wasn't in great shape to begin with, and I got a bit messy with the glue, so it's not as clear and clean as I would have likes. But it just looks too weird with two gaping holes.

Wow, I will give that 100 stars for design. Well done, how long did it take for you build that masterpiece?
Thanks. That was an official set. I just put it together in Studio. It probably took around 10 hours in Studio. I don't remember how long it took in real life. Probably around the same, building it while watching TV.

So I took my son to the local toy shop to choose his first Lego set, it was between the City seaplane and the Friends seaplane and ultimately he chose the latter. It's not what I would've picked, because of the mini dolls, but it's what he wanted... At least it was slightly cheaper, and to be fair the plane is pretty good all things considered. It'll be interesting to see if he picks another Friends set or the other seaplane next time, my money's on the latter.

To be fair, Friends sets are visually appealing and if I were a super young kid I would probably be drawn to the colorful designs over something more realistic myself.

I was around 10-12 when started to move on from Lego "playsets" and drooled over the Model Team theme instead.

Very nice and artistic lego set you made there. I need to go back to building with Legos. I used to do it all the time when I was in my younger childhood years.

I've never really been into the Speed Champions series, but if they are pumping out F1 cars....I might have to make some room

I'm really excited for the new F1 sets. I probably won't be able to afford many of them (just a couple of the Speed Champion sets, and maybe the ICONS Williams, if I'm lucky). But there looks to be some very useful new parts coming along with this F1 tie in.

Here's what I've been working on lately:

Ferrari F80. I know the windscreen is too small and it only seats one minifigure, but i really wanted to try and capture the NACA ducts on the sides. It's a WIP but nearly finished.

This one was inspired by one of my favourite MOC'ers on Flickr (Angka), and his awesome 6-wide version of a Renault Spider he did.
I have the parts but still need to make the instructions and take pics, but here's a render of it:
