We all knew it was coming, since he's been even less healthy than normal this year, but it's still sad to see it happen. I don't think the world will ever see a player as skilled or as classy as Mario again.
The moment I will remember most was when Lemieux missed half of the 92-93 season after being diagnosed with cancer, yet he still came back during the chemo and won the NHL scoring title in the same season.
I think he beats Gretzky as the best ever, but that's debatable. Lemieux was definitely more skilled, and if he had better health, he certainly would have beaten all of Gretzky's numbers. I'm not taking away from Gretzky, but I just think Lemieux was better.
