Does any one know where to find the details on the Lemon Law? My dads new Avalance is a **** box. He wanted me to find out for him. Thanks.

Ya it doesn't have the moldling on it and its sunset orange. Looks pretty good but it sucks.

The steering is a little messed and it has a oil leak at 4k miles. It has some other issues as well. It drives ok but still he needs a new truck with out problems.

I don't think 'messed' steering and an oil leak constitute a lemon - just some generally crappy build quality.

but hes had it in twice...once at 800miles for no brakes...and once at 3500 for a blowin front suspension.

I think - and I stress that I do not know this for a fact - that a vehicle must be serviced more than three times for the SAME problem within the first year of ownership to be declared a lemon. In other words, the dealership needs to service your dad's truck first. If it continues to have the same problems, then they may be required to replace it.

Uhh, it's a GM. Build quality and General Motors usually don't go together...

If it's really, really bad, you could always try a lawsuit. Not that you stand a chance of winning, but i can't think of anything else.

Michigan's "Lemon Law," was enacted to protect consumers who have purchased new cars with serious defects which the manufacturer cannot or will not fix under warranty. The law defines a lemon as a new motor vehicle that has a defect that substantially impairs the use or value of the vehicle, and which has not been repaired after a reasonable number of attempts. If the substantial defect still exists or recurs after a reasonable number of repair attempts, the consumer has the right to a refund or a replacement vehicle.

Yeah - Infiniti, Acura, Lexus? They're basically pre-1990 Hyundai when compared to GM.

Hell, that picture's just a Photoshop - it's supposed to be filled with 2.2CLs.

Hey, the Fiero was a high watermark for automotive quality. People just didn't know how to take care of 'em. Don't even get me started....sheesh.....

No.

I've owned 3 GM's, 1 Honda, and 1 Lexus, and the GM's had the worst build quality by far. My Lexus is almost 9 years old, and it still has a better build quality than the 3 year old Z28 I had for a while. The Lexus is older than all of the GM's, but it's still 20x's nicer.

My brother's Toyota, mom's Lexus, and dad's BMW's are all nicer than the GM car's I've owned as well. I would even go as far as to say my Dad's Ford truck is nicer, and it's like... a million years old.:scared: Actually, it's like 11, or something.
