Won my first race yesterday morning in the legends series at Lanier. Still getting acclimated to the Miata but oval racing seems to be 2nd nature for me. Guess I was meant to go fast and turn left.

I go fast, turn left, and then get hammered by some idiot who always wants to win on the first lap. I have given up on oval several times, and then tried it again. I just wish I could get out of the rookie series on it,a nd it would probably be alot more fun.

The road racing got great once I got to the skippy. Never had so much fun playing a rcing game before, and the competition is great. I really need to start playing more. My setup has kind of just been setting for the last few months.

Oy joking Matty well done buddy that is pretty impressive!

Cheers lol. It was In the Nvidia MX5 cup, had some pretty close races on my first day. Only had iRacing a week, i really need to get a PC built and get back on.

If you're able to win, keep going because it isn't going to last. After you get into those top splits you're in for a different story. It's much more satisfying to get a 4th place in a race in the top tier mazda cup out of 100 people registered than winning the bottom split.

I hate to say it, but if you are having THAT much trouble getting out of rookie ovals, you are doing something wrong. My time through rookie in the Legends, I only did one time trial and that was when I got to 3.98 or something, I averaged less than 2 incidents per race. My iRating always hovers in the 1100-1300 range, so it's not like I'm getting top splits or anything either. You just have to be very patient, don't bother fighting for position, because normally rookie oval racers are just that, ROOKIES, they don't know how to hold their line going two/three wide. They don't know multiple lines, they know a single line and will stick to it. Just concentrate on driving safely and doing whatever you can do to avoid the inevitable accidents. Don't sit 0.3 seconds off of a rookie's bumper, give them at least a half second so that way if/when they overdrive the car and spin or put it into the wall, you can respond quickly enough to make a safe pass the majority of the time.

Cliffs: Take it easy, don't fight, give space, learn multiple lines for each track. Do this and you will get out of the Legends very quickly.

I still go back and race the Legends quite often though, I enjoy those little cars. You wanna see a wreckfest? Make class C and get into the trucks when they are at Bristol. It will make you wish the driving was as clean as it is in Legends. HAHA!

I won my very first race. I ended up winning 3 of my first 7 but I haven't won in 2 weeks. It's weird how things go like that. I wonder if iracing matches you up based on inexperience or safety rating because it seems much harder to win now, even in the mazda cup

^ Nice username.

Legends are something you do NOT want to be aggressive in. Too many idiots there. I recommend starting in the rear and practicing wreck avoidance. I've actually snagged a couple wins doing that. Now I'm Class B with 2216 (I'd like at least 3000) iRating and 1.81 incidents per race.

Haven't touched the road side yet. I'll get there.

That's not technically correct because I belive your irating is currently 900ish.:)

Huh? I haven't been down to 900 in a couple months and that was just because I was focused on fast tracking my license. I think road I'm 1300 right now and oval I'm 1150 or so.

edit: 1319 road, 1131 oval.

Maybe you are looking at my TT rating? I don't do TT's unless I need SR, and I just drive slow for 30 minutes, so I'm way off my normal pace in TT's.

But like I said before, I'm not overly concerned with my iRating, if I was I wouldn't be consistently racing 5 or 6 different cars (and currently getting comfortable with 4 more). I'm in it for the fun, not for the iRating, so I'm not going to concentrate on one car.

He might of meant that you briefly had an iRating of ~900 (many months ago as you stated) before bringing it back up to your current rating? My iRating has taken a nosedive these past few weeks! LOL
