Letting b-spec run autonomously??

My billy-bob is only at level 6 right now so I haven't reached the higher level races yet. I'm reading posts here about you guys just letting bob run endurance races on his own...um, how? What about telling him what to do, managing, and more importantly...how does he know when to pit, change tires, and get gas if you aren't there to tell him to pit? Inquiring minds want to know

Drivers pit automatically if they are low on fuel, or if the tyres are particularly worn out.

And most of the people throwing him into endurance races immediately are doing it in very over-powered cars, meaning there's no need for direction.

With a good enough car (FGT or X2010) Ill let my grandma drive out there and she is 6 feet under. At this point is where most people develop the Bob's quickly and without spinout worry. Races such as the 9hr are often won by 267 laps by an x2010.
