even w/ no content, this brings up a good question: How would one possessing a H-shifter(g25,g27, fanatec) fully shift all 8 gears on the Lexus IS-F or that skyline sedan w/ 8 gears(GT350-8?)? and what happens if you shift to 6th gear if your car doesn't have one?
-Just random questions from a DFGT owner...

**addition****- what about cvt and single gear machines? i'm fairly sure the wheels will treat them like automatics, but can you make the clutch operate on them as well?

I'm wondering the same as I'm considering upgrading to a G27...

I was thinking about building up one of these tonight, how is it as a drifter? Does the 8 gears get annoying? I love using the Amuse S2000 with seven gears so I would imagine it not being too bad. Thoughts?

even tho i never drifted the isf i think its a great car based on regular time trials. and i see Gonales' pink isf just tearing through the track lol

Its not pink anymore! :P

Well Ive got some extra credits so Ill have to check it out. I dont see too many of them around surprisingly, not even the RM ones, at least not near as much as the typical JDM stuff.

Its a great drift car. But since of it's 8 gears it's very vicious trying to make it maintain a stable pace.

Why not use it like a 6 speed. Extend out the transmission and only use 6 gears or 5 whatever you prefer. That's how I started to use mine then I got the hang of it then I started using the seventh gear then the eighth when I gotthe hang of it.

Eight gears is sounding like a dream, having only five on my main car right now has been hard as hell to deal with on the wheel. Definitely building one of these up, if I dont like it Im sure it will make a decent cruise car or paperweight. ;)

It's epic, I learnt to drift in mine and I'm still using it...

Ps. I'm kinda sadened that gonales ISF was mentioned, I thought I was the one famous for driving an ISF XD

Is It me or is the ISF A Pain in the rear to tune. it over revs all the time any ideas on how to fix that

Bring final gear ratio up (i think, not sure) and set top speed to max.

I was figuring a way to set the gearbox to use no more than 6 gears, even if stills 8 avaliable...

7 gears and 8 gears on any car is more than annoying...

I actually love the seven gear transmission in the Amuse S2000. Its like a swiss army knife, you've always got the right thing for each situation.

I just had a go in my Skyline 350GT-8 (I'm pretty sure that's what it's called, it's got an -8 in the name), I quite liked the smoothness of an 8-speed, you just have to keep changing but it's not much of an issue, really. At least I didn't think so. Yet to try the IS-F.

at first i didnt like the IS F for the 7th and 8th gears.

like nismo34.... i lengthened the the gears overall, and made it out to shift less rapidly. making the last two gears useless in a slide.

play with that at first... and youll get a good setup on switching gears.

I think that take more time to get used to pick the right gear when the standard is 5 or 6 gears.

Also there is a possible downside about change gears several times is that every time you have to change it, there is a litle gap of smoke on ur performance. Its a tiny detail, sometimes depending the car it is not so much clear... but its an detail to watch.

I still studing a way to emulate 6 gears into this Lexus and any other car with more than 6.

The fact she has 8 gears is not a problem. You will be going sideways thus creating smoke anyway, no need to be accelerating all the time :)
I found that with 8 gears, its way easier to find the best gear for every corner, and a way more versatile driftcar then others...

The stock gearbox in the Lexus is quite awesome for drifting as you can shift mid-drift without ANY cut in power. Mind you, I mean the stock gearbox. Not the FC unit with default settings. Also it winds up working like a 6-speed anyway, 7th and 8th are too long for any real use. 👍

Yep, i was comparing today the full custom gear box and the stock gearbox and i found these interesting aspects too. The fully custom gearbox can reach 400 and something km/h while the stock calculates 510 km/h. So i tried a Sarthe straight run to check how is the real final speed of both and what is the max speed of each gear. So i figured that none of both never reach its max speed, but the fully custom stills too short, while the stock behaves more similar to any 6 gears type, and the 7th starts to act only after 300km/h.

So ill keep the stock.
