I have to admit that (even if I only have the demo and doesn't have a wheel) this game online is just AWSOME! I had an awesome battle with a guy (called Sven EST) from the middle of the 1st lap till the 5th (last one), even tought we was battling for the 4th place, it was so exciting, no mistakes could be made, that battle will never be forgotten.
He passed me twice but his racing line sucked so I managed to take it back and hold my position till the last lap 👍 He finished 0.25 secs behind me as well.

The psychics are great, tought I can't drive the Turbo ones (only the XF GTi). Since I use the mouse, it's hard to controll them.

This game is all about technique, racing line and speed. Wich is damn realistic. Only if I had a wheel..... :indiff:

My 2 cents :) - Have fun!

Whoah, cool psychics.

I agree LFS is a great game and it has very good physics.

do u have an mpr? i have an mpr from back in the day of me riding literally bumper to bumper with someone. i was honestly pushing 100% and i couldnt pass him. i'm faster now though :P ignore my comments i made in the race. :P i'd just finnished watching alot of initial D

the one time i did almost pass, he blocked the ideal line and i accidentally locked my tires badly
i've had better battles but thats one i had back in the s2 demo days. very very close action. i sorta lost composure after my attack didnt work.

I'm SO getting S2. Just raced on a server, and it really was a great race...until a polish guy (no comments ;)) blocked the apex. He just stood there, parked.

I hope this doesn't happen in S2. Or does it?

No it doesnt. Almost everybody with full S2 trys to stay out of the way , but of course there are the select few who get mad when someone takes them out (accidentally) and has to take it out on the whole field of cars. They get banned very quickly. I have seen it before.

I hate when people do that...why can't they just pit!

Oh you SOB :D

I've been looking for a general thread to discuss this, but guess who joined the Live for Speed family? That's right! Me. I downloaded the S2 Alpha version. I was kind of hoping this had the S1 version covered so I didn't have to pay for anything. I take my final Finals tomorrow. So I'll likely spend more time with this game. I'll likely launch a thread with this game as its emphasis in the Gran Turismo HD forums.

For the most part, I realized immediately what my buddy live4speed talked about in terms of physics and just what LFS is all about. The thing I immediately noticed is how different the driving dynamics are in this game compared to others. I used the XF GTI for most of my racing because it was the easiest to drive among the three available cars in the S2 Alpha version of LFS. I found it hard to stay on the road after cornering in some areas. It's because I noticed how the driver turns the wheel in about a 900-degree radius... just like the Driving Force Pro. I remember when my brother taught me how to drive when I used his GMC automatic truck (Sierra or Sonoma). I remembered him telling me to accelerate as I turned the wheel almost at its limit. So this added a huge learning curve for me. Enthusia had a lesser learning curve than LFS. If I do admit anything about LFS, rear-wheel drive is going to be a b:censored: to keep on the track. I learned that the hard way using the XR GT and the XR GT Turbo. This model looks similar to an Mazda Savanna RX-7 (or RX-7 Infinity?) up front and a 1990 Toyota Supra as its main body style. The XR GT lineup were tougher to keep on the track since these cars are RWD and require careful balance of throttle, steering, and braking. It almost seemed like I could drift in some of the corners as I was juggling trying to balance the car in the corners and avoid spinning out.

Now for Blackwood itself. The track looks long, but it isn't as severely long as I thought it would be. Laps are probably about 2 minutes in my XR GTI. The track just seems quick. The rally course can be tricky.

What I'll try to do on my final day of school is download LFS S1 and not have to be restricted so much with LFS S2. I don't have money to waste, so I'll just simply try to download S1 and get to race about five more cars. I'd really want to pick up that Formula SAE race car. Had LFS been American, I'd love to race something similar to the 2004 Formula SAE car for the University of Texas-Arlington < http://maepro.uta.edu/fsae/04car-team.html >.

Pretty good game. I'll spend some more time with it.

Welcome to the GTP LFS club John , I'd love to say I'm a member of the elite (I just did) but the reality of the matter is I'm not. Any chance of being competeive leaves me resorting to downloading other peoples setups and then still struggling for a mid pack place .

If your room is still up in half an hour or so I'll join it.

I've been racing a lot in LFS lately, one of the reasons I don't visit GTP as much as I used to back in the day. I joined a team a couple of months ago (Redline Racing) and we host some of the busiest servers mainly for FOX racing. I've also joined a 5 race BF1 tournament with DSR and it's a lot of fun learning the BF1, which I don't often race in. It's also a bit daunting though as it's my first proper tournament I've entered in online racing. I've also recently been racing the XFG/XRG class in the STCC training server but I'm finding it a bit difficult to get my head around the low grip level of ROAD_NORMAL tyres especially in high speed turns. Anyway, I'm always up for a race online so maybe I'll catch some of you folks online or you can try and catch me. My LFS license name is amp88 so you can always search for me online if you want to find me.

Needless to say I am interested, but what are the required system specs? I;'ve been digging around on their site with no luck in finding these.

Been playing S2 for just over a month now with a team made by both me and a friend of mine, link can be found here:

are you guys very fast and/or good at tuning the cars?

I can do simple tuning on cars (tyre pressure/camber adjustments to prolong tyre life or increase grip, modifying gear ratios to better suit my driving and rudimentary suspension changes) but I usually just get a team set from one of the other drivers in our team. Failing that I'll head over to setupfield and get something from there.

I've finally been able to find a steering setup I like as I traverse through the Blackwood course. I haven't yet downloaded the S1 variation. So I'm still sort of missing out on about five tracks and five cars unavailable in the S2 Alpha. I'm likely not to do online racing, but at least I now know what LFS is capable of.

a good lap time around blackwood with the xfg is 1:33. and about 1:24 with the xrt if i remember correctly. :) you can download hotlap times from lfsworld.net. And when you get the full game, you can submit your hotlaps and it tracks your pbs as well as other information.

the bmw f1 car can get around blackwood in under 53 seconds, so blackwood is considered a short track in comparison to the others:)

Really now? I recently downloaded the S1 version. I haven't played it yet because I'm still at school. I'm still sort of getting used to the driving model and the physics. I tried to turn on a number of assists until I get the driving model to a level I feel comfortable with. I don't have money to give out to unlock all of the game. I have, however, heard people can purchase vouchers for you so if you want to be a cheap bastard... then you can be a cheap bastard!

I heard about a possible LFS S3 in the future. Sure like to know how that would turn out.

Yeah LFS has alwatys been intended to be 3 part release, LFS S3 is in development. The one thing I would love for S3 to do, is to open the game up to the mod community.

I also hope that happens, it has so much potential.

That would be great. :)

Gabkicks: The team is still really young, for now we just want to start getting some drivers on board, perhaps enter one or two championship races then see how we get on from there. :) Thinking for the long term.

When are you racing next? I'd be interested in driving with you and just seeing if I'm too outclassed or not .

yeah, i was sort of looking for a team to join. In some leagues, people take things pretty seriously... spending hours tuning sets for specific tracks and then not sharing those sets with people outside of their teams. I'm not very good at tuning sets, but i'm a pretty fast and consistant driver.

Setting the cars up is my weak point too, you are not alone in that area Gabkicks. If I have a fairly decent setup I can usually keep up with drivers getting towards the faster end of the scale but not record setters or anything like that. Mind you I havent had as much practice as I could have. I need to be playing it consistently as much as anything to keep on the pace. But I need to use other peoples setups, with my own I'm not fast enough.
