I'm in NO way saying I'm good at GT5, this is NOT about bragging at all (Promise).

Being mainly a GT1 player I feel some of the tests are SUPER easy and 2-3 are just freakish (which is the way it's supposed to be, it's supposed to feel good when you get the gold).
Me and a friend are trying getting gold in all license tests (well, IB and up will probably be really hard, we are on the last test on IC) and it feels like some tests are just a joke (especially the rally ones, really hate those).
On some tests we have gotten like half a second under.
I remember the B-license in GT1 where you got like maybe 5/100 of a sec under and you were like "Hell yeah".

Up until the last test in IC there have been 2 or 3 that have been really hard and where we have used the wrong "tactic" (bad wording).

What are your thoughts about the license test in general but also the difficulty?

Personally I love the license test cause some of them really gets you doing things perfect.

GT1 was hardcore, only managed bronze on most of the events in that game.

It's not just the licences though the whole game is a piece of cake because the AI is so useless at breaking, you can just outbreak them on every corner.

I generally get a feeling that they are a bit loose in their restrictions in comparison, but the only ones that I would go so far as to actually call "easy" would be the rally tests. I managed to beat one of them by nearly a second, and they typically are beatable by at least half a second.

GT1 and GT2 also had terrible controls. ie, floor it or nothing.

I haven't done many license tests as they aren't needed though.

They are definitly easier. I remember trying for gold in GT1 and GT2 with a friend of mine and it took us several days to get gold for the simpler licences like a and b. In GT5 you can do gold in these in a few hours, if you are a mediocre driver... :(

The Super license tests were way easy, but then again I think they always were in the previous games, too. S-8 was hard for me, though, because ASM is forced on so I had to turn ABS off.

Agreed, I got S-4 through S-9 all gold, in a row.

The only reason to do them in GT5, is to unlock the cars.

Well, that SUCKS.

GT1 was HORRIBLE hard almost, BUT it was so great because me and the friend actually managed gold on the last two tests that we had left on Bronze :D (in GT1)

Licenses for me is one of the fundamentals that seperates GT from other racing games.

Actually I got gold on like the first 3-4 tries on some of them, not saying that it means it's wrong. But we have gotten through half of the licences doing all gold, when I thought MAYBE we could get the first two.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out :D

Some of the tests seem to take a few minutes to get the gold, but others make you want to blow up your playseat and G27 altogether...

I will be starting IB tonight and I am looking forward to the tests! 👍

If you want hard, use a controller and not a wheel. I really need to buy a wheel, but with the new one announced I may wait even longer now.

super licence isnt hard at all just frustrating, 6 golds and not even half a sec off 1st in the rest, glad i golded le mans (S-8?) after being spun by that stupid 458 i wanted to throw my controller through the screen, although i was dissapointed with the prize car for all silver...

Did you use any assists? I find some tests impossible with ABS off, have to use ABS=1, but TCS is always off. I believe some test could be easier with assists on. Still got all gold except in S (not done yet), but only in a few ridiculous cases with more than one sec, usually a few 1/10's.

I just don't get rally, find them really hard.

I can't even remember GT1 and GT2, all I know is in GT3/4 and now 5, I've gotten Gold for every license test.

To be honest, in this game, the tests were the most "fun". Mostly talking about S tests.

Some are easy, but B5 I spent a good hr on over the weekend. Super satisfying once I beat it, I'm going for all golds but have put it on hold at the moment till I can backup my save. But I love the licence tests, I wish there was more!

I think they are too easy. Like mentioned above the rally tests are way too easy! I think gold should be hard even for good players. I know i am a better driver now then when i played gt4 but i think gt 5 have much easyer licence tests.

We are playing with the controller.
Not sure about the settings, they are what came with the game (is that "cheating")?

The most ****ed up ones so far is the one with the cones and the breaking one with a .700 time. My friend got .701 and then like 10 tries later he got exactly .700.

Yesterday, tried to increase B5 from Silver to Gold. Did and it was satisfying. Now i need to get B6 to Gold. I will get all 10 tests gold. I want to receive all 3 cars at once!

Pretty easy so far. The last test I have done, S4, I passed the 1st place car on the top of the hill in Tokyo. Just cruised from there until the main straight where I celebrated early and forgot about the kink on the straight and crashed for a DNF. :scared:
No harm done though, got the gold on the very next try.

The GT5 tests are harder than the GT4 tests though (where I was getting from a few tenths to seconds under gold time easily) and about the same level as the GT3 ones. GT1 and 2 were hard, but I can't really compare since I was so young back then.

I will say this though, there shouldn't be racing in the license tests. It should be about timed runs (alone) only like in previous games. These passing games should be missions or special events instead. I'm just not happy they are changing the GT formula so much recently.

I've hit the wall at the slalom test, but everything else in A and B is gold. I'm about at the point with the 6ax controller that I'll be lucky to Bronze anything going forward.

I do miss the 'old' cornering tests ... ìts too bad that some tests are left out
Wouldn't it be more challenging to add more license tests ... ?
I think in total the previous tests were much harder to acchieve

I agree with you on some ....
Though overtaking is something rookies should learn in license tests too
but just like the old ones over take 3 cars in some part of a circuit without bumping into them...

S license has to be brought back to the initial S-license !!!
Best time on a particular track .... make it (very) hard again please KY :)

I have not voted (too narrow options), but agree with your assessment.

58 down, 2 to go. Some were just sooo easy, quite a few in all categories were golded in pretty short time, the offroad were unbelievably easy, but there are a few very difficult/annoying. For myself, B-5 and IA-2 became a tad repetitive, I have still to gold IC-10 and IA-10 and decided to leave them to last.

Edit: Just realised I have not answered the question. To pass: they are incredibly easy but is that to do with making the game accessible ? That could be the argument if license tests controlled access to the game, but that is no longer the case is it ?

You should take into account that even the slowest players over here in this community are waaayyyyy faster than the average player. That's why you can bronze the events blindfolded while wearing a straightjacket and operating a DS3 with your mouth. ;)

Also, I think the people with 60 golds will be like 0,001% of the total people that will buy GT5. Obviously, PD will not cater for those people. Sad, but it's just reality. The only thing I dislike is that you can't raise the difficulty yourself (e.g. some of the aids are always on and you can't turn them off).

That said, I couldn't care less about license tests, the real flavor of the game for me will be online. As long as they're not in the way, make them as hard as you want. ;)

I now think they are too easy. I just got my SUPEReasy license, and it was just that, super easy.

Only one test posed any sort of challenge, and that was due to the fact the car didnt suit me and I hate the track - the R246 round. LeMans, I was in 1st halfway to the second chicane down the Mulsanne. 3/4 a lap left and I'm sitting on a golden toilet? Really?

WTF? I'm not that good PD. The super license is 10/10 - I had 7 golds before it. lol

Largely due to blowing through them, but still. That is absurd.

So yea, you think the first three licenses are easy, wait for the Super license. lmao

Too easy like other GTs.

I miss the test who you must do turns around a pile of tires in a white Impreza, thats the best test so far.
