LOS ANGELES - Limp Bizkit, which suffered sales of its long-awaited new album, has been named worst band of the year by readers of Guitar World magazine.

Creed, another act that draws sharp reactions, came in at No. 2 even though the Christian combo took the year off. New York rockers the Strokes were No. 3, followed by “all pop-punk bands” at No. 4 and pop-punk band Good Charlotte at No. 5.

Limp Bizkit’s “Results May Vary” has sold one million copies after 13 weeks, and ranks No. 64 on the U.S. pop charts. Its previous release, 2000’s "Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water,” ranked No. 5 after 13 weeks with sales of four million copies.

Metallica’s poor-selling new album, “St. Anger,” was named biggest disappointment, but it also came in at No. 2 as the best metal album, ranking behind Black Label Society’s “The Blessed Hellride.”

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett was named best metal guitarist, a possible consolation prize for having all his solos cut from "St. Anger,” and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was named best rock guitarist, notwithstanding his initial claim to fame as the drummer with defunct rock band Nirvana.

Another long-gone band, Led Zeppelin, released the best rock album of 2003, the 3-CD live package “How the West Was Won,” according to Guitar World readers. That category was rounded out by Audioslave’s self-titled debut, the White Stripes’ “Elephant,” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Vicious Cycle” and Rush’s “Rock in Rio.”

The other big disappointments of the year were listed as "all new music,” the break-up of Texas metal veterans Pantera, the continued absence of a new Guns ’N Roses album, and Marcos Curiel’s departure from Christian rock band P.O.D.

Uh-oh. :odd:

that stuff is very ttue and accurate, all but "st Anger" being the second best metal album. its utter crap, one of the worse in history. about limp bizkit, creed, the strokes, and all the other ****, yeah, its true, they suck.
and as for the good stuff, like "how the west was won" i is true too. the rock in rio CD was also awesome. nice info under18.

👍 to you when Reuters catch you and gets you to jail (:

Why did they cut all of Hammet's solos? Not that half of them aren't kitted together from many different recordings, anyway, but they still sound good in the songs.

I like The Strokes...:(

I'm not going to say Limp Bizkit is a GOOD band, but they're not the WORST band of the year, Avril Lavigne, The Distillers, and Creed just to name a few who were worse, although Limp is ALMOST as crappy as you can get...

Results May Vary was an ok album. It definitely wasnt their best but it was still ok. I listen to it every now and then. I cant believe St Anger was named biggest disappointment. That album kicked ass.

Wow, and Limp Dick sells so much of their albums that good? Well, that is pure crapola

The Strokes do suck - The White Stripes are at least 17.5 times better, hands down.

I hate Good Charlotte. They suck. The dude and his brother can't even sing. Get rid of the eye makeup you 'tards.

Because their music is simplistic (note that that is very different from simple, and their songs are fairly derivative. They've invented nothing, recombined nothing; they're just a bunch of smug, self-satisfied prats.

indeed. both their albums (dont know or care if they have more) are the ****ing same. they are nothing new nor add nothing new to the rock scene, they just sound good, sticky and catchy. pop to its full expression. sorry, that sucks. I prefer to hear something more... musical.

I don't see how your opinion makes sense, milefile..
They're "nothing" ....eh?

I don't really see why a band has to "add anything" to the "rock scene". If it sounds good, listen to it.

Being catchy's a bad thing ...eh?

That's the point - I don't think they sound good. To me, everything the Strokes have ever done has already been done by someone else, and better. So I listen to that instead.

Assuming of course you were talking to me, because I don't think milefile has posted recently in this thread.

I like Limp Bizkit! and they are not the worse band of the year :irked:

I believe that the Darkness deserve that title ;)

Metallica's album wasnt a big disappointment. I liked it alot. I dont know what the disappointment is all about.

What was wrong with it? I didnt see anything wrong with it. It's like I said before it wasnt their best album but it surely wasnt bad either.

I was disappointed with St Anger. One of the things that set Metallica apart from the rest was that they were heavy and melodic at the same time. St Anger is just run-of-the-mill thrash. I was expecting something special and IMO they failed to deliver.

As for The Darkness, they suck. Quite apart from the fact that they're only a novelty act, that guy's falsetto voice makes it impossible to understand the lyrics, it just sounds like he's wailing.
