I would like to get some type of linux OS installed, and I have a question.

If I went and made a 3gb partition, would it be big enough for most linuxs?

What format would I make the partition?

Do the windows/linux dual boots work well?

Just a few questions.

Also, give me a nice little, breif, lesson in linux, how risky etc...

:odd:

Mandrake or Suse...Debian is also an excellent choice.

They'll configure the partition for you

Mandrake is ENORMOUS for filesize (1.5 gigs I think)

dual boot should be fine

riskyness is low if you are careful - there are linux guides all over the net, just look. The toughest bit will be learnign Bash but not too bad.

If you got lots of time and are willing to not be able to use your computer for up to 3-5 days, try out Gentoo linux - its installation will teach you everything there is to know about linux because you will be compiling everything on your own.
