Well it looks like the LMP 675 category is now starting to looking very promising.
KnightHawlk Racing's Lola MG has now debuted at Sebring. It's still in the plain blank color scheme. Apparently the Fields (Jon and Clint) were waiting their turn to try out the car - maybe we'll see a Lola MG for the Fields in the near future?
Another contender is going to be Cirtek who will run the new Valentine 675 prototype. Cirtek are quite an experienced team and the new Valentine car looks like it has a lot of potential.
Another rumor which is sounding more and more factual is the Dyson Lola MG link up. The story is that Dyson will acquire a Lola MG as well. This sounds like a good thing for them as there is no way that their old Riley and Scott MKIII could every be competitive with the modern LMP 900 cars. They sold their MKIIIC car this year so getting the Lola MGs makes perfect sense.
There is still no word on anyone using the new Reynard LMP 675 car. This one also looks like it could be a contender all that needs to happen is someone needs to buy one
All of these cars, the Lola MG, the Valentine and the new Reynard (not the old **** Barbour cars), are all proper 675 cars not 900s that have been stripped down. The 675 cars are not to be confused with Grand Am and the FIA SR2 cars. The SR2s are the lower budget lower power class of car where as the 675s are lower weight cars but still capable of competing for overall honors. As long as they are real 675s not stripped down 900s. Last year at Le Mans the Lola MG was not reliable but it was fast, easily as fast as the 900s in the wet and very close to them in the dry. This year the car should be reliable and still fast. Remember these cars can run longer between pit stops than the 900s can. So things are going to be very interesting to watch at Sebring
