Have anyone tried the GT academy demo with the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel? And how is it compared to the G25?

I’m still using the D-pad but I really want to own a wheel, but don’t know which one to choose.

Cheep and good=DFGT
Expensive and better=g25
More expensive and little better than G25=G27
etc
etc
etc

Its just what cash you want to spent on your wheel,no one will make you faster than the other, just the experience is different!

spyrrari.

Hi inside. I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet but I've done more research than is healthy related to a video game peripheral purchase and in fact am waiting for my DGFT to show up in the mail. It is the official wheel of the game, there are multiple videos of Kaz using it himself and from every video, review, and piece of testimony I've seen it will meet your requirement of 'good'. As with anything, you can spend more cash and get a better wheel. That doesn't make the DFGT any less good.

it works great too, no complaints from me, and it allows adjusting of some parameters during a race(red button), which i look forward to using in gt5, can't use red button in demo though. and hey Kz uses it so you know its gotta be topnotch. I have not tryed the other two more expensive wheels but like has been said it all comes down to what you choose. There is no wrong choice here , they are all great!

A G25 painted black with no clutch or H shifter.

Love mine.

Highly reccomend.

This wheel is one of the Greats.

All the info you need:tup:

If you get one, don't go to best buy, they still sell it at Retail price(150$) i found this out the hard way but it was way worth the money.

I am currently using DFGT. I feel that it works great and this is the official wheel for GT. If you would like to have a wheel with better quality, get the G25 or G27 as both of these wheels are wrapped in leather and they have the physical pedal shift instead of buttons behind the wheel. G25 also has clutch and a 6 gear shift stick. It depends on what you want and your budget.

I have both DF-GT and G25.

The best pedals are the G25's but the DF-GT wheel is better than the G25s so I use that combination - DF-GT wheel with G25 pedals. You have to do some recabling but I have my pedals open anyway and bolted directly to the racing frame and seat so it was pretty easy.

I have the DFGT and I gota say it works great. Got it for 40 bucks brand new at gamestop, the people that work there apparantely messed up the price tag of 150 and put 40 for some reason..XD lucky me.

Thanks for all the nice replies! Think I will go with the DFGT, it sounds like the perfect solution for me. Now I just have to find a cheap place here in Denmark where they have it :)

DF-GT should be better than G25 because of special buttons on it designed for use in GT5. And is also the size of a G25 and the same quality, just no 2 FFB motors and no leather, also no clutch.

I tried my DFGT last night with the GT Academy Demo, My first impressions were good. The new physics are brilliant and I can finally get to grasp with them compared to Prologue as they feel more stable and responsive. Very recommended as the price for one is so much cheaper now.

I just went out and bought one this morning, Only had about an hour with it so far and have to say i'm blown away by the difference between a wheel and a controller. with the wheel i was able to feel when the tyres where about to give, could regulate throttle and break miles better. Turning is night and day. Actually feels like i'm driving. i couldn't recommend it enough.

I'm hardly what you'd call the best GT driver in the world, so maybe this is why i see such a difference as i know some here prefer a pad. Now i just need to get a cheap wheel stand till after Christmas as i have it locked down on a bit of cut ply just now. oh, the feeling of immersion is really good as well.

Ive been using the gt wheel for about 8 month's now after upgrading my EX wheel ,and I have to say that the difference between the 2 wheels are considerable .Even on some forums they say its better than the G25 (don't have a go ,it's just an opinion by other's) .
I have recently bought a "wheelstand pro" and I have to say the combination of the both my driving has become even more enjoyable .
I have to say that I personally wouldnt change my wheel to any other as the mixture of GT, DFGT and the wheelstandpro make's me all warm and fuzzy ,but that may be me just PI*&ing myself lol

I'm another DF GT user, can't recomend it enough, had many wheels on many systems over the years and the GT is the best I've had, yes the G25 and 27 are better, but for use with GT5 they have one failing over the DF GT and thats the custom buttons and selector wheel made specificaly for the game. Kaz had a part in development of this wheel also so it's good, also the price is a factor that has to be accounted for, the DF GT is certainly the best for the money!

You can change your settings while driving (not in the Demo, in GT5P) also with the G25. Just assign the functions to some buttons in the settings menu.

The wheel stand would be the icing on the cake for me. As it is with Christmas coming up, i'll just have to make do just now, i'm never going to be thrashing it out with the fast boys anyway, i will however try and get faster and might register for a GTP tag in the coming days, no doubt that will spur me on.

My other problem is the wife (isn't it always:sly:) wanting to watch the tele when i'm wanting on the ps3, i think i'm going to buy her season 2,3,4,5, of house as part of her Christmas and let her watch them on her lappy * plan hatched * :nervous:

Im lucky in the "wifey" dept , I just threw her in the back room with a "32" lcd and a DVD player and she's happy while I'm in the front room with a 100hz 37" panny and 5.1 surround (it makes it all the better when I drag my recliner 6 ft from the tv and set up my stand with a few BUDS on tap) .I do grumble sometimes but in whole she's a keeper

Wow... I wasn't gonna say that, but maybe he's right. I own both the DFGT and G25 also, and for those not sure about which to buy, I'll settle the issue.

If you HAVE to have a clutch, the G25/27 is the way to go. Probably the G27, since it should be better built.

If you don't need all three pedals, and/or want to save some money, the feel of the DFGT is essentially the same as the G wheels.

A friend of mine says the Fanatec starts to shake rather badly in parts of the TT demo, so to heck with that. It's ridiculous expensive anyway, and the wait for delivery is terrible.

I bought it today and experienced a racing wheel for the first time and man what a ride ! I think the whole experience was a bit frustrating at first, I kept skidding out even with racing tires on my cars, but after 2 hours, I got accustomed to the wheel and love it! The response and resistance of this wheel is almost like it is in real life. I can't wait to save up for the new Thrustmaster now that I'm getting used to racing wheels.

This is mostly for the people who dont have a Driving Force GT but are going to get one:

If you are used to a controller with the two toggles and buttons it is probably going to take some time for you to get used to the wheel. The steering comes pretty natural, since it is just like driving a car. But you probably wont be very percise. And if you start to get loose it may be a bit challenging to get the car straight again. But this is only when you first start. Just do not get frustrated. After an hour or two you will probably be able to pull some, reletivley clean, descent laps. By the next day you will most likely be matching your times with a controller if not beating them.

The biggest problem I had was the force feedback threw me off because normally i would just push two sticks over and that was it but now the wheel will apply pressure in the opposite direction. But dont let it do that. You have to be able to turn that wheel wherever you need it to go. Dont let the ForceFeedback push you around.

Hope i helped.
