I've had a look around but I haven't found a solution to fit my problem yet - sorry if it has been covered somewhere and I missed it though.
Basically I bought a g25 for repair recently because the sellers description sounded like a power issue. Apparently first the FF failed and then ultimately the whole wheel, leaving just the shifter and pedals.
When the wheel arrived I plugged it in to see what happened. What happened was that the power led flashed on bright for a little more than 1 second and then went very dim and a little bit flickery, while the sequential shifter LED shines perfectly brightly. Also the wheel didn't run any kind of calibration routine. Sounded exactly like the symptoms that this guys was experiencing when it turned out he didn't have the power adapter - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=146961
I took a volt meter to the existing power adapter and all appeared well. All the same I tried it with a new replacement adapter and still got the same result. Also tried having the USB plugged in with the power adapter turned off for a while and then turning it on after it had been sitting there just on the USB for a while since I heard somewhere (I forget where) that that can sometimes help with things. All that happened was that the power LED flashed brightly for a little longer, flashing at a kind of medium pace for a second or two and then considerably faster for about another second after that.
I cracked open the case and nothing was obviously dead and there was voltage immediately inside the case from the power lead. While I was inside the case I checked the optical encoder disc and found that it was slightly cracked, so have ordered a replacement. But am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the wheel not even trying to calibrate and the dim power LED.
