I've seen a lot of talk about different wheels. Mainly dfgt and g25. But never have I seen g27 wheel settings. Anyone have some they would like to share. I'm having a issue when I race and that issue is my car being sluggish for some reason. I feel like a lot more people have a speed advantage on me even with the same car no tunes or upgrades. I've tested this. When I switch back to the controller I'm back to normal again. I'm assuming maybe I jacked up my settings so would anyone like to drop some knowledge on me. Much appreciated!

I feel the same way as you do about the g27. It's has much smoother action because of the helical gears, but the ffb seems less and the "feeling" seems to be lost. I actually prefer the g25. I have tweaked the g27 settings to get in a range that allows me to play normally, but it still is not the same as the g25. I know this reply is not an answer to your question, more of conformation of your point.

I've heard this same problem in a number of forums, sometimes with the G25, but most often with the G27. I'm not sure from your description if you're having the same problem I am.

I use a G25 and on some tracks I have slowdowns. It's like my car is dragging an anchor. It's totally frustrating. I don't know if it's because of the Wheels we use or just a problem with the game.

I'm getting very frustrated with EA. It was bad enough that the game was released with so many problems, but they put out a patch fairly quickly to correct the worst of them. But it's near the end of January and it's beginning to look like they're not going to address the remaining problems. If they are, they're taking their sweet 🤬 time with it.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions to fix your problem...

Yeah, appreciate all the info guys. I'm thinkng it's just nfs because when i play gt5p I don't have this issue at all. EA needs to update their wheel settings or something!! Getting to the point where the game isn't even enjoyable anymore because of this disadvantage I have as well as the rest of you. I refuse to play with a control when I have this great wheel sitting here.

I have a G27 and I had NFS:SHIfT (Had=finally sold it! :D), and the interaction between the two was rubbish. My G27 works like a charm with GT5P, out of the box you plug it and play perfectly, you can assign each button, and the strength of the FFB. With NFS:SHIfT it just shows you a complicated list of awkward settings wich takes you ages to test and find one that suits, you can't assign the buttons, and the FFB is rubbish. The only times I played NFS:SHIfT with some succes was with the DS3, and that shows how much of a simulator is it.

I need help
I have just received my new G27, it feels great. Problem is I can't find the G27 in my GT5P wheels option.
Can someone please tell me where I have gone wrong?
Many thanks

Um this is the NFS Shift forum not the GT5p forum... but it so happens that I play both, and the G25 & G27 are not directly supported in GT5p. I believe you have to use the generic racing wheel option.

Can anyone clarify whether or not the "clutch" actually works with Shift?

In GT5P, if you shift poorly, you end up with a box of neutrals, forcing you to reclutch and engage the gear again.

However, in NFS Shift, it seems to pop into gear regardless of whether you depress the clutch pedal or not.

This indicates a total lack of clutch support for me, as there always appears to be a 1 second lag inbetween gearshifts regardless of how quick I am. In GT5P, the speed of the driver is accurately reflected in gear change speed, but not so in Shift.

How can a game say it supports clutch when it doesn't?

I got Shift the day of release, just goes to show how much I've played it...

I believe the clutch is supported in Shift, just not in the exact same way it is supported in GT5:P. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but I believe the car will shift into the next gear without the use of the clutch, but it will not change as quickly as when the clutch is used. I know (Shift) downshifts are challenging if you just bang through gears without the clutch. I can't comment on the speed of shifting, it's been a while since I've played prologue.

To be honest, I've shifted my street cars without a clutch multiple times (drag racing, hooning, etc..). The only time I've done it and gotten a 'box of neutrals,' as you call it, was when I broke the shaft 3rd and 4th gear ride on in my Jeep. Otherwise, a shift without the clutch just bangs into the gear requested by the driver, similar to Shift.

Granted, it doesn't sound pretty, and isn't the perfect idea of 'babying a car,' but it definately doesn't automatically shift the car into neutral and make you re-engage the clutch to try the gear again, I can tell ya that.

Does the clutch act differently than GT5P? Surely it does. Does it mean that a clutch pedal is not supported at all in Shift? Not in the least bit.

Anyone played around with the dead zone and sensitivity settings? It feels like I'm driving something from the 60's there's so much slop in the steering.

Deadzone should be 0 for a wheel.

Speed sensitive steering should be 0 if the wheel turns more than 270 degrees.

The sensitivity settings are more properly linearity settings. 50 is perfectly linear response (eg the last 5 degrees of travel produce as much steering input as the first 5 from centre). Settings above 50 accelerate input from the start of the curve, settings below 50 retard it from the start of the curve.

If you're driving a stock street car, with no onboard assists (tcs/abs/esp), you have something that is pretty good at ripping it up and not much else - very soft springs, minimal antisway, minimally effective differential, no downforce, tyres with a peak slip of around 15 degrees (practically on the edge of doing a donut), etc. Definitely try and get a bodykit, stiffen up antisway, stiffen up suspension, and get better tyres as a first priority. The other thing you might find helps is to reduce steering lock in either advanced or simple tuning - so rather than reduce the responsiveness of the steering control, reduce the maximum extent to which the wheels can turn from centre on the car you're driving, so the end point of your controller results in 20-25 degrees off centre rather than 35, and every degree you turn your wheel turns the wheels on the car a bit less.

Shift won't move the car for any other reason than the interaction of the tyres with the ground and aero with the air. So experiences gained from games where you can steer completely independently of the current load on the wheels or steer the car via wheels that teleport themselves into their best slip angle don't necessarily apply here :). You need to think a bit more about where weight and power are actually going and which wheels you're depending on to do what you want the car to do.
