I've pretty keen on buying my first wheel ready for GT5. For a while now I have been pondering over the Driving Force Pro, I would have purchased it if it wasn't out of stock everywhere (I guess I can blame GT5 Release Date for that).
This morning though I got an email from my usual store about the these two wheels. Right now after reading here and watching YouTube videos I have no idea why I am looking at the Force Pro instead of the GT. From what I can make out people are suggesting the GT over the Force Pro anyway.

Am I right then in saying that since I will be using this mainly on GT5 then I should go with the Logitech GT5?

Shame I missed out on Play when they had the G25 on sale. They were cheaper then than they are now as second hand on eBay.

I am sure you mean "Logitech Driving Force GT" or "DFGT".

Yes, the DFGT is the wheel to go for (if you don't need a shifter/clutch combo) over the DFP. The wheel rim is larger, the pedals are slightly better (slightly), and there are adjustments on the wheel that are specifically catered to GT tuning.

You should be able to find the DFGT online for around $60 to $100.

;)

Yeah my bad. The site I was trying to purchase it from has it down as a "Logitech GT5".

Plenty of places I can buy it from it seems but the one place that is a good £10 cheaper than the rest has been out of stock for about a month.
Guess I will have to bite the bullet and pay the difference. Thanks for the advice.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life.

I got my wheel in the post today. Think its pretty damned funky.
The issue I have though its made GT4 and GT5P harder than having my standard joypad. The game suffers from massive over and under steer. I guess it just takes practise but this is one hard beast to master.
Also I tried the F1 car round the Test Course but the force feedback from the wheel is very overwhelming and can easily rip the wheel from your hands. The car feels like its constantly fish tailing.

Is it always this hard?

Its called realistic, its not that its hard you are just not used to it. The FF is nowhere near that strong in my opinion even on max FF setting, its nowhere near the real forces an F1 driver will experience. I would just stay practice, and I would not turn the FF down but that is just me.
