Logo design ideas?

One of my mates recently opened a mechanic shop and it has taken off very well and he asked me to design him a logo if i didn't mind doing it. I have been messing around with it and im just not too happy with anything i have thought of. I haven't done anything with graphic arts in almost a year now since i stopped doing wedding photog so my brain just is not working with me on the art as well as it did before. If anyone has any ideas on it to throw at me it would be great:tup: The name of the shop is AJ Automotive so he was wanting just a logo dealing with the AJ to keep it simple and it will be placed on the far right top of the shops cards at a 45 deg angle.

Does he want it as a simple flat colour design so it's cheaper to print and photocopies or faxes without becoming illegible?

Doesn't really matter, he is going to get it printed from an online company for a good price in full color. Something like 1K cards for 15.95, super price for that many and color and such.
