im looking for something well under $100 and with no force feedback. basically im just frustrated with using a controller and I'm getting a PS3 so I want a racing wheel to make the experience more worth it.

any recommendations? oh also its for GT5 and GT6

i might do that but i was thinking id rather have one without force feedback just cuz they're probably easier to use, especially for drifting

Where did you hear that?

Exactly! Who said such nonsene?
If you don't like force feedback, you can always turn it off, but who would do that. Also, wheels which don't have force feedback usually have turning radius of 180-240 degrees. They are for little kids and don't give any better experience than a joystick.

I highly recommend trying with both the force feedback and without force feedback.

The Force feedback gives you some idea of the position of your front wheels; isn't that the most important part of drifting?

"Are my wheels facing left, or right? Which wall am I about to hit?"

^ should no one ask ever.

For drifting you just need FF. A simple bungee cord gives almost no advantage in driving and experiance compared to a controller. That DFGT in the link is a prety good steering wheel to start with. You will love it. Probably not the first time you use it because you are used to a controller but after some time you will appreciate it very much. Just don't give up!

ok well i decided to get the DFGT from tigerdirect! i didnt realize you could turn FF off and I think there are many different levels you can set it to so if i am jerking the wheel around a lot i can avoid risking damaging the engine by lowering the settings or turning it off. thanks for the advice yall! im stoked!

I would never ever ever...EVER buy a weel without force feedback. Good choice on the dfgt. Just know that it is only the beginning, you will want more ffb power down the road. Thats why people pay thousands of dollars on wheels - for rediculously strong ffb motors. Once you get it, you will understand! Slightly slower lap times? pfffsh who cares when you're having so much fun!

If you dont want any force feedback with the dfgt, just uplug the power cord once the game is loaded. Since the power cord only powers the feedback motors there is literally no resistance.

Probably the first time he drifts with force feedback on, he doesn't want to get rid of it anymore.

Hang on, I don't think that force-feedback is harsh on the force-feedback motors. It's their job.

If it really does worry you, yes, you can turn the FFB down, but I really recommend trying it first.

As I said before, having the FFB gives you a really good idea of where your tires are, and how much grip they have. A lot of the guys on this site have "butt-kickers" which are designed to improve the immersion into the game by vibrating every time the driver hits a curb or something.

Having a wheel with FFB is a vital part of the immersion and makes it very much more fun. Just try it first.
