Looking for racers like me...

Hi all, this is my first time posting ever, but I'm an avid GT player. I love the game and I love the series!

I always get online hoping that I can find a good, clean, and definitely fun lobby, but no avail...

So for the first time I'm creating a post letting everyone know about my lounge... I'm online a lot of the time and looking for people who have the same racing traits as I...

I'm on now if you want to join and race... Perhaps if we get enough people we can make a league or something?..

I race clean, with all aids on, a bump every now and then though. ;) I'm running 30mbps internet, nat type 2, and I have a mic too. I think I'm a pretty decent host, but it's hard to please everyone...

I'm always hosting this lounge so don't be afraid to join if you see it on!

I do all types of racing, I don't do shuffle though. I try to keep things fair and just. Like I said I can't please everyone, though...

I do all types of racing. I love endurance races!!

Sounds like a lounge/room that I would enjoy, I'll send you a friend request soon... I am DGXR, nice to meet you :)

I am a big fan of fast tire wear and races of 10 miles or more, this rewards smooth, skillful and respectful driving, and it helps to keep people from driving overly aggressive and winning while doing it. Someone can drive aggressive but their tires will wear out and they probably won't win if tire wear is set to fast and the race is long enough that tire wear becomes a factor. This doesn't really matter because your room is your room... just run it the way you like and don't try to please everyone, trust me it's not a good approach to hosting. People who don't like your settings can find another room that makes them happy, this should be encouraged. See you on the track. 👍

I think I'll look you up right now.

Okay, sounds good. I'm going to be offline for a while. I have some things to do around the house. But definitely add me and I'll get a lounge started soon. I'll let you know.

Sorry, I just tried to go online, but my PS3 refuses to. Some other time then.

One of the general rules of thumb for Open Lobbies is, the harder the tire compound, the better and more courteous the drivers. Noobs tend to be attracted to the RS tires moreso than street tires and it generally takes more skill to throw 500PP around on SM's than on RS tires.

Another general rule of thumb is the lower the PP the better the racing. Again, noobs and less skilled players are more attracted to 800 HP cars on RS tires, than realistic 275 HP cars on Sports Tires.

These are just tendencies of course, there are no guarantees of anything when it comes to Open Lobbies, but you can tilt the odds in your favour with a little experience.

Another thing I'd recommend is not setting things up based on what people want in the Lounge. To coin a phrase, "that way lies madness". Running a lobby is not a democracy it's a dictatorship. You should set the room up in the way that you prefer and leads to the best racing. I don't think I've ever seen a successful, long term, online host, that took votes on anything other than track selection. The more you open it up to opinion, the more opinions you're going to get and inevitably some people will have hurt feelings or not get what they want, because 4 people wanted RS tires and 3 wanted CS tires.

Good point, Johnny! Interesting knowledge. The more I read it the more it makes sense.

Never fear, I expect this to be followed with a series of posts that go something like, "Johnny doesn't know what he's talking about, I run a clean RS room and we've never had an accident in 7,496 races":dopey: Happens all the time, which is why I said it's a tendency not a rule. I've run in clean 600PP RS rooms and crappy 400PP CS rooms but the tendencies and probabilities don't run that way, and that's based on a heck of a lot of Open Lobby experience.

You might want to check out my sig below for a link to a Guide to Open Lobbies..if only for the humour. :)

Sorry, I couldn't help my bad self, lmao.

Except for the tire part, Johnnypenso is absolutely right. You have to be a dictator.

If you cave to the whims of your clientele your room will have no identity. If I joined last night and loved the way the room was set up and had a great time – I will be looking for that room tonight. If it has changed I will likely be disappointed and leave.

You can’t please everyone so please yourself. You will find that there are a lot of people who like exactly the same things you do. Constancy will pay off in the long run.

You might also consider running your room at the same time every day. My friends know I start my room at the same time every night. It doesn’t take long for my room to start to fill after I set it up.

Exactly. In fact, the worst rooms to be in are the ones where the host is wishy washy and caters to the whims of as many people as he can. Do what you want to do, you will always be happy, and if it's a winning formula, other will send you FR's and you'll develop a following and a regular "clientele" for lack of a better word. And do not be afraid to drop the hammer on anyone misbehaving, not listening, not driving the way you want, arguing, foul language etc.

Yup, I always wanted to get to race with proper guys more often, I'm subscribing to this thread. :)

Nice point, I totally agree.

I'm definitely not afraid to boot someone, man.

What Johnnypenso said. 👍
Here & in "the guide" ;)
Johnnypenso's guide to open lobbies is BRILLIANT (astute is a good word for that).

I love endurance racing, too. In fact, I'm organizing my own endurance championships and am looking for interested participants.

Hi I have a racing group that I am trying to expand and become more competitive. Pm me if u are interested

Race Quality: Very High
Voice Chat Quality: Very High

Having these both on High might make it hard for players with average connections to stay in your room, if their connections drop they'll get disconnected. It might cause lag also because of the extra bandwidth used by everyone in the room, especially for those with slower internet. Read the text that scrolls along the bottom of the screen when choosing mic quality, it's interesting.

My advice is to set them both to Standard, or turn mics off & then set Race Quality to High.
