So I built this car as a racing machine from ground up to beat much more powerful cars in FF and the Schwarzwald events. Unfortunately, I'm having huge problems to get rid of the understeer this car seems to natually produce.
I've tried pretty much everything, from altering the downforce to installing and playing with a limited slip differential (LSD) to tuning the suspension to turn in better. However, nothing really helps. With anything less than racing tires, this car just understeers badly regardless of whether I'm accelerating or not. To me it seems the car just overloads the front tires and goes straight on. That said, changing the suspension setup doesn't really improve driving, because the tires simply can not transport the changes onto the road for whatever reason.
I already went with an extreme setup: -4 deg front camber, loads of toe-in front and toe-out back, but it made the car behave very unnatural and inconsistenly while reducing the understeer only moderately. I also put on harder tires at the back to shift grip to the front, but it did nothing in slower corners and introduced bland oversteer in faster bends. I then went with default settings for downforce, LSD and suspension and then carefully tuned towards less understeer, which did help, but still is unsatisfactory overall.
The car drives okay with soft racing tires now, but sports are still impossible. Any hints on what to do?
