Hey Guys!
I'm looking for a new laptop (since my old one is completely destroyed) and was looking for your advice on a few things:

1. Is Windows 7 64-Bit any different from the 32-Bit... if so what are the differences!
2. Is a Dual-core Intel® Pentium® B940 processor @ 2.00Ghz moderately fast
3. Do all Windows programs work on a 64-Bit version
4. Which is better 4GB RAM on 64Bit or 3GB RAM on 32Bit
5. Is the HP Pavillion G6 good value for 399 Euros?
6.Would the G6 be any good for moderate video editing like so (These videos were made on a 32Bit Windows Laptop w/ 3GB RAM with an ATI Radeon 256MB with a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor @ 2.1GHz):

Thanks Guys!

1. Allows for more memory use and thus more memory bandwidth. 4GB is the standard for a regular user these days.
2. Yes but you will have a hard time playing minecraft at a full render 30fps.
3. Yes. 32-bit programs work just fine as I'm running a 32-bit version of firefox in my 64-bit machine.
4. Get the 4GB. Better for your video editing(if possible 6GB or 8GB for editing).
5. Not really it comes with last generation Pentium and i3 CPU's.
6. I would video edit on at least a 4GB system or more. A good CPU is needed when you are rendering video.

What would be your budget for a new laptops?

See my laptop just broke recently so I would only have up to 400 Euro to spend on a new one... as for editing I only edit lightly (like in the videos shown) so I think 4GB should be enough... As I usually work on 3GB machines (And even 2GB one once).. Also glad to hear that 32-Bit programs work on 64-Bit as for CPU's I'm sure if my video editor can render on a Intel Celeron 1.80Ghz it will be much better and faster on a Dual Core Pentium (Last generation or not)

Thanks for your help!

Well there is this quad core laptop(be great for video editing and you can upgrade to 4GB by changing the 1GB stick with a 2GB). It's a nice deal and it's hard to find a quad core at these prices. It's actually little bit behind the last generation i5 in terms of performance. Which is good and the AMD Quad is better than the i3 listed for the HP laptop.

That first video is murder.

Why!, Why add moon over the castle on MLP.

I bought the Asus U36SD-RX138V

It is a Dual core i7 has 4GB RAM, 1GB nVidia GT520 GPU, 750GB HDD, is a 13.3" and has windows 7 on it.

I got my laptop a few months ago. i7 2630qm, Geforce 555M, 500gb 7200rpm HDD and 4 GB RAM.
And I tried doing some video editing... If I do some light editing, my laptop seems fine. If I done some heavy, HD editing it become slow, RAM usage is about 90% and editing becomes a pain (Freezing, takes long to add or preview effects) Luckily, I am able to add another 4GB, which is what I will do in the future.
So if you are going to do editing, I would suggest you get 6 or 8GB RAM as Nick said.

Ok thanks guys I decided to get my computer fixed (for the LAST time) then if that don't work I will get a new one... But you guys I have edited perfectly fine before on computers with 3GB RAM built for home use (My editor isn't very demanding (PowerDirector 9))

@Grayfox= I thought the video turned out well and it seems the people on youtube agree :P... It was bound to happen sometime anyway

Well with the short videos you make, yes it is possible to go by with only 3GB but if you plan on making longer videos, ram amount might/will be a problem in the future.

I'm kinda doubting Grayfox's knowledge.... Intel webpage source. :sly:

Well doubt no more as i am rarely wrong when it comes to PCs.
This is the CPU that is in my laptop.

The case behind these is that they were quad cores to start with when planned but during manufactoring 2 cores failed the test so they sell them as dual cores rather than throw them away or they want to offer a cheaper i7 that is still fast but in a dual core version for PCs.

The Following are Dual core i7 chips.
620m, 640m, 610m, 620lm, 640lm, 660lm, 620le, 620um, 640um, 660um, 680um, 620ue, 660ue, 2620m, 2640m, 2629m, 2649m, 2655le, 2617m, 2637m, 2657m, 2677m, 2610ue

I don't see that text about how they are higher end CPU's with bad cores on the Intel website. For all we know is that they could of been made with only two cores and not a quad cpu with two bad cores. We don't know if the chip in your laptop is really a underclocked and undercored quad core.

Of course not.

That is basicly saying we can't to things right.

But if you remember the Core Solos?

They were dual cores that had 1 bad core in them and they sold them as single core CPUs.

Most likely these are built as dual cores but i am also pointing it out that they could have been quads that ened up with 2 bad cores.

Those Core 2 Solos could of just been one core chip too. The Core 2 Duo could have two single core chips laced together like how my Core 2 Quad laptop has two Core 2 Duo chips on one cpu board.

Ah ok. I just speculated since I'm rather drowsy today. I'm also aware that AMD does advertise triple core CPU's so I did assume that before. Well I think that's enough offtopic talk we have done so far. I had a good talk with you. :)
