Looking to buy a wheel

Been looking at the G29 as it's relatively cheap so waiting to see if it goes on sale during black Friday. Is the wheel actually any good or should i maybe look at one the thrustmaster T300 series wheels? I hope one of them goes on sale during black Friday or I'll be waiting a few months more before I purchase one.

I have a T300 and found it to be good. I have read it is the best out there but not reliable. I've noticed that my motor is not as strong as it originally was and if you run it at max force it will only last a few month. The G29 is not a good in terms of feed back and feel but is strong as hell. I personally preferred the feel of the T300, it really comes down to which feel better for you. Both are good in the long run.

Everything I've heard about the G29 is that it's a solid wheel. I had its little brother, the Driving Force GT, for quite a long time and it served me very well.

I have moved to a T300 RS GT, which I was able to pick up on sale for $299 a while back and I really, really like it. That said, I am 100% certain that I would also have really, really liked the G29 if I'd bought that instead.

There are some issues at present with the T300, though I've found it acceptable with the latest firmware and the fan switched to always on mode. Unlike some, with these settings and the force feedback set to 1/1 I do not feel as though I'm in danger of breaking or damaging the wheel, but it's possible that you might want to wait until the T300 issue with GTS had been patched if you go that route.

I rolled the dice on the T300 given the reliability reports and I'm very happy with it so far. A few months from now, I might not be, but I really like it so far.

Honestly though, I think either wheel will make you happy as long as you have a solid base for it. A good wheel stand or something like a Playseat Challenge is a lot better than strapping the wheel to a desk or coffee table.

According to the poll in this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/poll-thrustmaster-t300rs-gte-reliability-poll.329969/ 50% of T300 owners have had reliability issues.

G29 will be fine as a starter wheel, the pedal set is probably as good or better than the T300. The wheel itself uses a gear system for feedback which is considered not to be as good as a belt drive (like the T300) but in all honesty for a casual gamer its fine, if you're more in to sim stuff you'll probably buy a fanatec setup or even a direct drive wheel so I don't think its a big deal really.

My original Driving Force™ wheel ($80 new and probably 13 years old) still works perfectly apart from one button (one of the "R" ones). I see now that it won't work on the PS4 without an adapter, and neither will my headset, so I might as well upgrade both when I buy GTS and a PS4.

What's the deal with the degree-of-rotation setting for the G29 in GTS, and in other PS4 games for that matter? I don't have a PC and therefore can't use Logitech's utility to make adjustments.

Specifically, can this be done on-the-fly using the on-wheel controls or does one have to exit a race / online lobby / arcade mode or whatever in order to do this. I'm anticipating only needing two settings - F1-style (180º) and a "normal" racing one.

Thanks so much in advance. Spent hours researching this on the 'net as I didn't want to bother you guys with such a noob question, but alas, I was drowned in the turbulent surf...
