There are some 30-40 lap per race, 10 race series, like  the Formula GT series. If I race in this DOes your oil go bad(oil light come on)?In the endurance races, I dosen't but I'm not sure about the long series

                                  Changing your car's oil

A new feature introduced in GT3 is the oil change. Unlike the carwash and the wheelshop, changing oil is crucial for the maintenance of your cars. First and most importantly, whenever you're about to race a new car for the first time, change the oil. Your car's power will increase anywhere from 3 to about 40 hp depending on it's original horsepower. Second, after any series of races and certainly after a few single race events, you should change your oil again. In any event, after driving for about 187 miles without an oil change, the oil light below the tachometer will turn on. If this happens, you should change your oil as soon as possible. If you neglect to change you car's oil, you'll notice the horsepower decrease after a while. If you continually drive without changing the oil, you may permanently lose some horsepower. In championship series events, you won't be able to change your oil at all for the entire duration of the event. Because of this, your hp may drop at some point in the middle of the series. In these situations, if you change your oil afterwards you'll still regain lost hp, but only up to the stock level of the car.

Hope that helps, if not...let me know

Well, technically I typed it all up, but I read it in a mag. I cutted and pasted it from a thread I typed it in a long arse time ago...

I also took out like 3 words from what the mag said :D

I believe that research has been done to prove that horsepower is not permanently lost due to oil neglect.

There is a steady decline in horsepower after a few hundred miles, down to a minimum.  Once there, it won't go down any more, regardless of your oil change habits.

The oil does go bad, i did a champion ship today and it went bad in the 7th race, but when i did an endurance i did about 2 hours and it didnt go bad, i didnt see how long the race was but i do think it was over 186 mi, i donon tho

the thing you have to remember about the oil is that even though it will decline steadily through a race series and even though you can't change it during that period of time.....the other cars' oil is declining too.I have never come across a problem stemming from the oil when in a race series.
