Losing progress after endurance race?

I just finished an endurance race, and saw that I was disconnected from the internet midway through because of the last update. Am I gonna lose all progress made in that race if I install the update? Or is there anything that gets saved to the hard drive?

Unfortunately not. Stop whatever you doing and update your game.

I realize this may be too late, but the game will update itself while you are playing. When it's finished the update the game will reconnect you and you won't lose progress.
