Loss of grip and understeer

What are people's opinions with grip and such in the corners, along with braking. I started with the Audi S4, 4WD car. I use the driving line. soon as it turns yellow, I slam on the breaks and if im lucky I wont get under steer and lose grip in the turn.

I gave the car an adjustable suspension, made it a bit more corner happy. as well as the top end brakes.

Thoughts?
 
I've noticed on certain corners if you time it just right you can really put the hammer down through the corners.Took me a while to get used to when the tires loses traction the wheel gets all loose.

Also it's just a matter of which gear your in.If you run into a corner at the right speed but at too high of a gear it can have a bit of understeer,but if you have it in the correct gear and the RPM's are high the car sticks pretty good through the corner.
 
you can learn the track by having the lines it is just a matter of perspective

You can. Sometimes the lines aren't in the best places though. You may be able to find lines that are faster, or lines that are easier for you to hit if you go it alone.

The line is good for initially finding your way around the track, but once you know where all the corners are you'll ultimately end up faster if you turn it off and leave yourself to find your own way around.

I found this out as well. I use the driving line and its about control in the corners with this game. Slow in, Steady, Fast out. In S turns don't bother changing gears if you don't have to, you might loose momentum. Instead I find it easily to lessen the throttle.

But the colo(u)rs are really off in GT5 and most of the times it's possible to break on the red.

I would guess they're also conservative on Shift2. Am I right?

I use the line in GT5 as more or less a reminder of when to brake, typically in the red. So its why i was using it for this as well. I purchased an elise which Ive found a bit easier in the corners (well it is better than an S4 :P). But ill keep playing around to improve my skills.

The racing line is pretty good on this one.Seems pretty spot.I can run some fast times with it.
 
I don't necessarily hit the brake if the line turns yellow....letting off the accelerator seems to work for me, but I don't mind taking the turns when the line is yellow IF I can hold the line.

I agree. You can learn the tracks with the line on, but in my opinion it actually takes longer to learn that way because you rely too much on the line.

Sure your first couple of laps will be pretty ugly with no racing line, but you will find you will pick up your own braking markers etc. much quicker, then its just a matter of fine tuning your lines to find the fastest way through each corner
 
I'm finding that following the other cars around is a good way to learn tracks that you haven't seen before (lots for me). Their braking points are conservative, so if you just copy them you're very safe and it helps to focus your attention on looking down the road. You're always looking for that next corner and trying to memorise where you've been before, which is great to help you learn.
