G'Day all,

Welcome to Round 1 of the GTP Lotus Elan Gentlemans Racing Club :gtpflag:

0gf0kvz06ku7at6drz31.jpg

To whet your appetite and ease your way into the Lotus milieu, Round 1 is as follows :

Arcade Mode
Single Race : 2 Laps
Original Circuits
Autumn Ring Mini
Set Tyres @ S2 ( To select tyre for AI)
All Driving Aids : Off

Set Race Difficulty @ +5
Quick Tune : Set Lotus Tyres @ N3 ( Normal Sports )
*Late info : Tyre wear strong, Speed limiter penalty on
Top up or down is your choice but down looks

You may attempt as many Races as you wish, then save replay of your best effort or note your best Lap 2 time.
To enter this series, simply pm me with your fastest lap time 👍

It is not necessary to Win Race, but indicate if you actually Win, as this will be worth 1 Point.
Points awarded for best Lap time will follow the normal procedure but will be on a sliding scale dependant on the number of entrants ( just to keep things nice and close :D ).

Please follow the usual Gentlemans Racing Rules.

This series will be a mix of (mainly) GT Mode Time Trials and Races but also the odd Arcade Mode 1 on 1 Race.

PM details to me by Deadline of 12 Midnight GMT Sunday 6th. November

Race reports, videos and pictures will be welcome here but try to use sign up and info thread for general discussions.

Thank you !!
Now go and enjoy yourselves ;)

What settings do you want us to use for the tyre wear option? Also at Autumn ring mini, i was only pitted against 1 opponent, is that normal?

Also Gentlemans Racing Rules = OLR rules?

I have just added the tyre wear setting to basic rules ( I forgot before :ouch: )
As you have noticed you will only get one opponent for this Race.
There will be races later with a full field as well as some solo TT's.
Gentlemans Rules = OLR I guess, but as I consider this good old fashioned hard but fair Racing to suit the era of the Cars I will not be expecting any proof.
The honour system is in play !!

G'Day all, greetings from Oz :)

Two submissions received 👍
I will leave them unopened until the deadline.
I will also pm my time to an honest broker ( smallhorses) to ensure complete fairness.

Enjoying this opening round, not a very long track but you can develop a nice flow.
The Elan sticks like a Limpet.

Later.

Ooops!. I forgot to read the thread completely. :ouch: Please disregard pm. I'll get you another one.

Hehe so did I, and I'm the one who asked about tyre wear settings.

Anyway, posting to let everyone know (if you didn't already) that setting the top up means you get a race against 5 AI opponents, while top down gets you a race against only 1 AI racer. This might be useful info, when setting up future challenges.

EDIT: Time submitted

Well, I'm taking the easy way out this round. Top down. Tyre wear race submitted. :)

Just to clarify for other NTSC-ists, you need to select Sports Medium tyres at race entry, and then Normal Road tyres (RD) which are the NTSC equivalent of N3 or PAL Normal Sports.

NTSC has Normal Economy (N1) which display as 'E' in the replay,
Normal Comfort (N2) which display as 'COM' in the replay,
and Normal Road (N3) which display as 'RD' in the replay.

When you go into Arcade Mode --> Single Race --> Original Circuits --> Autumn Ring Mini (Normal) --> Lotus --> Lotus Elan S1 '62 --> Select Colour.
After picking a colour you'll get a menu that shows:

Transmission MANUAL / AUTOMATIC (Your choice)
Driving Aids None / TCS Only / TCS & ASM (Must be "None")
Tires Sports: Medium (when you enter the race, you'll need to change to N3 (Road) tyres later.)
Difficulty -10 - +10 (Should be set to +5 in this case)
Closed Top Closed / Convertible (Again, your choice, but 'Convertible' will give you 1 AI opponent whereas 'Closed' gives 5 AI opponents)

Once you're in the race go to Quick Tune-up (Red toolbox icon) and change your tyre type to Normal Road (RD) on the front and rear of your car. 👍

Oh wow, I never knew that... thanks for telling me! :)

G'Day all and welcome to the latest recruits :)

Thanks to smallhorses for the information he provided on the difference between NTSC & PAL versions of the game. In Australia we have PAL and I did not realise tyre grades were named differently.
As I suggested earlier the series will be a mix of Time Trials, Arcade Mode or GT Mode full field Races and a bit of Snow & Dirt action as well :sly:

I will post the first round results and the upgrade you will be allowed to install for Round Two tomorrow (as soon as I have had my morning Coffee).

Great stuff, much better than my info, I will endeavour to do better in future :guilty:

I have completed my Race and enjoyed it very much.
I definitely feel there is a place for low hp Racing ( it is certainly easier to manage for us oldtimers with rusty reflexes at any rate !! ).

Good luck all, talk to you soon.

Round 1 complete with some interesting results.
smallhorses & DJBaker identical time down to the thousandth of a second. Amazing.
I feel I have to ask this but Cedar, could you check your time is actually as pm'd and not a typo. Seems awfully quick, a video would also be handy.

I apologise for layout of results I will sort out formatting and edit later, just wanted to get times posted.

I will start Round 2 thread directly.

Thanks all and well done 👍

Looking great so far, everyone! 👍

Viperin, that was pm'd correctly. I do not have a video, though I really was going to save the replay, but completely forgot because I tried another race after that to see if I could get a better time.

If you do not believe me and think that I am in fact cheating (I'm not angry, but there isn't a better word), I'll do it again.

Okay, thanks for reply to my query but thought it fair to ask for confirmation.
Personally I am not going to accuse anyone of "cheating", Club is just about having some fun, not arguing about results.
I would be happy to stay completely neutral and let our peer group decide.

I just checked my settings to make sure I had raced correctly, Viperin, and I found that I had been racing on the regular sports mediums. :ouch: :(

I am so sorry for the inconvenience for you and the other members.

Please take out that time, I'm doing it over right now, with the correct settings. 👍

G'Day all,

Although I was generally looking at everyone elses brake lights, here is vid of my effort just for interest.

Now on to Seattle, I wonder if I can channel a bit of Steve McQueen ?

Actually I'm pretty happy with my showing. Just switched over to MT on GT4 and have that relearning curve to figure out again. It helped that most of the time we were in 3rd gear.

And Steve stays in America. You get Mel Gibson. So bring your dog.

And here is a video of a TTCRS Series the summer of 2010. I think Viperin and DJ Baker both ran in it. Maybe we can get the others to spend big bucks (1.99) and play the game.
