Busy weekend so my practice run of 20 laps is done.

One of the things that I had to unlearn with GT4 is the downshifting part. With FM3 if you down shift and run the revs too high you get engine damage on Full Sim damage, which I always run in season play. I was constantly braking as I was downshifting for awhile until I had to remember that you can't blow your engine or even damage it in GT4. An very enjoyable session.

Time submitted.

Only downshifting doesnt happen too often in the Elan, for these first three weeks I reckon I've spent approx 85% of the time in 3rd gear.

But it does have an effect if you brake at the same time. I don't know if GT5 has that option like FM3. I'm one of the select few who enjoy the challenge of running at full sim damage. Got to loving it with the GTPLMS & SuperGT races that ABud ran back in the days. Not quite full sim but if you made to hard a contact it was rewarded with a penalty pit.

I just carried it over to FM3. It has the effect of leveling the playing field too. As close to RL racing as I'll get to. And no shortcuts against the AI or the race stewards will give you a time penalty (in my mind that is). Tends to slow down the speedsters because any contact will screw up their cars either until they pit (for 30 or more secs.) or for the rest of race which will slow them down.

Alas, most of the racing community doesn't share my enjoyment of the challenge.

I thought I did ok for this round considering the amount of time I spent to achieve the lap time, I guess we'll see if I suck or not when the times come out.

Famous character; I had no idea, I had to ask my friend google so no bonus points for me.

G'Day all.

Once again some damn fine Racing between the leaders 👍
The rest of us forced to eat their dust :) which of course meant I could not see where I was going :ouch: (thats my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it !!).

The answer to the Bonus Points quiz I wanted was ..........

Emma Peel ( Diana Rigg ) of the Avengers TV show.

Well done DJBaker & oldmodelt.
oldmodelt has kindly provided a link to a promo credits video.

There is nothing quite like being beaten up by a woman in Black Leather

I also awarded some points to smallhorses ( guessed Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau, from memory that would be in the Pink Panther Returns, maybe ? ) and also tricd04 who suggested Tara Browne, who was an English dude in the sixties who actually died in a Lotus Elan car crash.
So well done those people.

Now onto Round 4.

Actually I'm going to have you take those bonus points off me, as I've just looked it up. Somewhere in my dim & distant memory I remembered Clouseau driving an Elan, and I immediately associated it with the most famous Clouseau actor, i.e. Peter Sellers. It turns out I was wrong.
The Elan was driven by Inspector Clouseau in the 1968 movie of the same name, by Alan Arkin who was playing Clouseau.

So I'm right, but wrong. :boggled:

Near enough :sly:
Points mainly awarded for having a go !

I have round four prepared so I will go and start it.

Damnit, I knew my time sucked! :grumpy:

Hypothetical question; If me and Smallhorses for some reason hadn't competed this week, and hence you would have been quickest, would you still be saying your time sucked?

Also, how is your statement surposed to make the competitors who finished behind you feel?

Hypothetical question's answer: I would have said the same thing: I couldn't get a couple turns exactly right, and after about 50 laps or so, I just decided to call it a day.

I don't think it should make them feel bad. Everyone has their own style of racing and behavior. I'm a real competitive type, so I tend to get really hardcore when there's a podium to reach. Many people aren't like that. Some people are more novice drivers, and are possibly doing this for fun too. I'm enjoying the races myself, but maybe not as much as some others who aren't taking it as seriously as I do.

I dunno if any of those describe any of the other people who participated, but I certainly did not mean my above comment to be derogatory towards others. I'm just mad I couldn't correct my own errors.

About halfway down the page was the photo that kept a 12 yr old boy awake many a night.

My time was slow. But I finished tied for 1st in the trivia contest. :)
