Congratulations crooooooow ! Nice job.
You did not indicate if you won Race, if you want to confirm, I will add bonus points for you.
Well done everyone, good close times 👍
I have just got back home ( 11pm ), after travelling and working since 7am, so I am completely r....ted, so I will set up Round 5 after a bit of sleep.
Back soon :)

Really good idea; no practices, but lotsa laps. 👍

Does it count as a practice if we race the car on motorland for awhile before entering the race?

Just finished the race. 👍

I was surprised at how well the Elan handled here. I know it's a great handling car, but Motorland really proved that to me again. :)

I'm pretty happy with my time this round. But I know nothing's good enough to beat shotamagee and Smallhorses. :guilty:

And BTW, I did no practices even off the race. Just this one.

Time submitted.

At least I know I won't have to spend too much time on this for this week. (19 x approx 50second laps = 16 minutes)

This is kinda similar to the next round I had planned for the time trial comp, ie a lightweight older British sports car at motorland reverse, I'm even using N3's as well. (that pic and the race is at motorland reverse isn't it?)

My apologies for being dense. :dunce: A general question. Are we allowed to tinker with the tuning? I haven't as of yet and don't even know if it is possible. I noticed that my time after I added the clutch in round 3 was half a second slower than before. As an experienced(but slow) driver I am not a gearhead. But I would guess that in order to tinker you have to also run practice laps. Which would be a no no this round?

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. To those who don't, have a beer.

Fair question, and for the benefit of all I should explain - I have deliberately set this up so no tuning is required, possible or allowed at this stage. A level playing field and just focusing on pure driving was my aim. Hope this variation on just straight Arcade mode Time Trials is interesting to Club members ?

Have always enjoyed the arcade side a little better. With the damage penalty it gave me a chance competing against you speedsters who liked the bumper car action. And I suck at tuning.

Time submitted; for some reason I though total race time was important, so I was trying to be consistent rather than focusing on all out pace, but I'm still pretty happy with my quickest lap.

1 quick question:
If we're only allowed to compete once, are we allowed to go lineup "fishing" in order to get a favourable field? e.g. without SL65 AMG or Ford GT! It does mean entering the event and then quitting out, but you do so before starting / competing in the race, so I'm not sure if this contravened your rules? I'll wait for a verdict from you, viperin, before I race this one.

Good question and I thank you for it;
Fishing is okay as long as you do not actually start a race, checking lineup and quitting out is fine.

As it is possible entrants have already finished Race with Hares in the field I will reduce strength of bonus points if necessary ( I had intended to add only 2 points for win anyway).

I hope this is acceptable to all.

I also have an announcement concerning this round, due to circumstances beyond my control I will be late by about 12 hours with posting the results.
I have to leave very early tomorrow and travel to the North of Tasmania for work then return home about 11 pm ( local time ).
I will post results as soon as I can after I get home.

Due to this delay and the possibility of entrants wishing to "re race" after indulging in some "Fishing", I will allow an extended deadline for people to re submit if they wish.

New Deadline : 12 Noon Monday 28th November GMT

Good Luck all,

Catch up when I get home.

Results submitted. Hadn't been on Motorland in quite some time, & got knocked out of shape by the AI a couple times in the first few laps. :grumpy: Still an interesting challenge though. 👍

Is the deadline the morning of Sunday, or the late night of Sunday? I was confused about that part for a while now, but I do have my times submitted.

Sorry for confusion but I needed to extend deadline as I was just not able to post results due to work commitments ( basically just added 12 hours, so you were okay ).

Results now posted, thank you for your patience 👍

Oh, alright. Plus, I did finish the race actually. Sorry I forgot to include that information in my submission.

Now that the results have been finalised, I'll do a quick summary of my race.
I did this before the lineup anouncment was made, and so I raced the first lineup which had a BMW M3 on pole (I suspected it would be close, but I wasn't sure if i'd be able to beat it or not).
The other AI cars, (Chevy Camaro Z28 '69, Corolla Runx, Yaris RS, And Audi S3) I was pretty sure would not provide much competition.
Anyway the race started, and after the first lap I was in 2nd, about 5 seconds behind the M3, I was catching him by about 0.5 seconds per lap on cold tyres, but as his tryres warmed up that amount decreased.
By the time we started to hit traffic on lap 10 I was pretty much on his rear bumper. I overtook him at the tight left that leads into the long left sweeper while he was baulked by one of the slower cars. From there I just kept it consistent and occasionaly lapped the other AI cars to end up winning by about 4 seconds.
The finish order from memory was;
Lotus Elan
BMW M3 + 4.000
Toyota Yaris +2 laps (the slowest car came 3rd)
Toyota Corolla + 2 laps (had minor offs at last corner)
Audi S3 + 2 laps (pitted with a couple of laps to go)
Chevy Camaro Z28 '69 + 2 laps (had frequent major offs at the last corner)

Fun race.

Cool stuff, shotamagee!

I think I beat my competition by at least a lap, so perhaps I had less traffic to deal with in the beginning (when I made my best time) and that's why I beatcha.
