Elan Sprint was introduced in 1971 was the last version of the Classic 2-seat sportscar that was introduced in 1962. Elan Sprint had an 1558cc Twin Cam 4-cylinder engine with dual carburetor and produced 126hp at 6500rpm. It also had disc brakes on all four wheels. The sprint from 0-100 km/h went on 6,5 seconds and had a top speed of 195 km/h. Only 1353 Elan Sprint was build until 1973.

Even by modern standards that's a seriously quick 0-60. They just don't make cars as light as that any more, a shame.

I always desired this car. Faster and safer than the Elite, for me the ultimate and most desirable Elan.
Yeah I with you! To bad they removed it from the GT-series , it was in GT2 :(

I started with GT4. I suppose the GT2 version of the coupe was virtually identical in performance to the roadster?

Slightly OT, I'm reminded of the oft-stated story about the origin of the Mazda MX-5. The Elan was its direct inspiration, the only important difference being that the MX-5 would start when you turned the key. :D

What I can remember the Sprint Fixed Head was little faster.

Haha, don't you think the Elan do that after a try or more :P
