ok, right now im in a real predicament, for some reason at random times my pc complains that lsass.exe has failed, and my pc will shutdown in 1 minute. it gives me the error code
-1073741819
and so i search for that on ms's website, and it gives me this
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;306497
but thats for win2000, not xp pro.
also shotly after this happend, a suspitious process pops up in the task manager (see attachement).
and i try to end it, but since the lsass.exe quit, i doesnt reconize me as a user, hell windows wont let me shutdown, restart, or even log off!
i hope someone can help me with this problem

It's probably sasser, a new one, which is quite virulent right now and causes lsass.exe errors.
That's it.

I almost got it today...

...65 times!

Yup.

My mom's computer had it, freaking networks. I think I'll go take care of it over there now.

It's a new worm that people are getting. Microsoft is supposed to have a patch soon.
They have it out already.

Unfortunatly other PCs on my network weren't fortunate enough to have me as the adminstrator so their anti virus was sucky, as was their firewalls.

The Sasser.B had unfortunatly spread onto 3 other PCs, maybe more, haven't gotten to them yet.

So I took control! Patched'em up, installed Symantec CE 8.1 and ZA Pro on all of them. All better.

Got Sasser Yesterday. Great that GTP has so much information. I thought about looking at Google but then thought: "I wonder if anyone on GTP has had this problem". A quick fix later and sasser is no more.

Thanks Guys
