from the Shift 2 site:

walkthrough on how to redeem your exclusive content. Just follow these steps below:

- Boot up SHIFT 2 Unleashed.
- Press Start when prompted.
- Login into EA Nation when prompted.
- If you do not yet have a EA Nation account, select 'Create New Account' and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Once you're logged into EA Nation you'll advance to the Main Menu screen. In order to access the full menu, you will have to complete the first two Career races, therefore, select Career.
- Play through the first two races.
- Buy your first car.
- At this point you'll be advanced back to the Main Menu with all menu options available.
- Highlight Extras.
- Select Redeem Codes.
- Enter your Online Pass code which you will find on an insert in the game case (the insert is titled "ACTIVATE YOUR ONLINE PASS").
- Once the code is entered select DONE / CONTINUE.
- At this point, your code will be authenticated and you will download the SHIFT 2 Unleashed Limited Edition Online Pass.
- Once the Online Pass is downloaded and installed (installation is required on PlayStation 3), you will receive the exclusive Limited Edition content.

Am I reading it right? Limited Edition owners have to buy a car anyway before they can access the extra 3 free cars? This is not the way I was expecting it to be... I thought we could start with one of the extra cars without the need to spend money.
Can you guys confirm?

Yes, I think sadly is true. Even though I own the LE copy (which I still didn't use) but the only way you can access the Redeem Codes menu after you did all those steps. When you first start you can only select Career Mode and Options, and you have to go through all those steps to unlock the full menu, including the Redeem Codes menu.

Yeah. You do the 2 races that sets the recommended difficulty, then you buy your first car. Then you get the full menu.

And remember after you redeem your code, it'll say that the cars went to your garage. They didn't (at least not for me). You have to go to the car lot and actually purchase the cars for $0 to actually put them into your garage.

Edit- half tree'd

thanks for this info, useful to know.

Ah well in my case the fact that I have to buy a car anyway is not a bad news.
I was torn between starting the game with the free Giulietta or spend money to buy my beloved MX-5. And now I don't have this dilemma anymore, MX-5 it will be! :)

I didnt do those steps in order.. When i bought the game, I didnt have time to play it so I went to the PS Store and redeemed the code there and it installed. I'll still have the content right?
I still have to make an EA account though.. I hope it wouldnt affect any just because I didnt do those steps in order.. :nervous:

Christ, don't tell me I have to now creating a freckin' EA account and log on to the sodding Internet to access this content?? :grumpy: Why not just include the bloody thing on the game disc? Is it really that difficult??
Now I have to move the sodding PS3 into the other room, unplug the PC from the Internet, move the tv, hope the download works, etc, etc. Then move everything back into the other room. EA, NOT EVERYONE PLAYS ONLINE, OK? Just make things a little more convenient ffs!
Just remembered that the PSN store updates on a Wednesday here in the UK. So does that mean I'll have to wait till next week before I can use the Giulietta and the 37 extra events?

What the hell? Dude all DLC has to be redeemed online so I don't know why you're complaining. And no you don't have to wait until Wednesday. I don't really understand that question lol.

Also you do have to buy a car but the three cars show up in the dealer for $0 after you redeem the code so you still don't have to spend any money.

It's just a pain in the arse. Why couldn't they just add the extra content on a disc like they did with Forza 3 Ultimate Edition or MCLA? Not all of us have our consoles conveniently connected to the Internet.....

You know the PS3 has built in wireless right? It's not the greatest but it is there.

@Evolvedsoul did that method work, as I was thinking of trying that way?

I too redeemed the code in the XBox Live Marketplace before starting up the game. Then, when it finished downloading, I loaded up Shift 2, did the initial two races that are required to open up the rest of the game and when I completed those it was time to buy a car and the Limited Edition vehicles were there to buy for a whole $0 and the 20,000 additional dollars were added to my total. I'm not sure why EA would say that you would have to do the races, buy a car, then redeem the code.

I don't understand... it was very easy, I connect to autolog, they popup that I won all the LE content... then go to your game car lot and buy the 3 cars for 0$... can it be more easy than that?

I think its weak by developers to put some DLC codes into an original package and calling it Limited Edition or Collectors Edition. Put in some more "stuff" and some "things" ffs. I dont care what it is, just put it in there...
"Oh, does this fit in a box? It does! PUT IT IN THERE!"

But yeah, its not hard, difficult, hassling or even the slightest inconvinient (<--spelling)
to download DLC through psn. Enter the code and there u go.

I'd much rather have in-game content instead of some tacky crap that comes in the more expensive collectors editions and what not. I'm just going to throw it away anyway.
