There is a notice in the german car magazine " Sport Auto" that Michael Schumacher
is secretly taking some training in the swedish forests with Petter Solberg ...
Well I don't know if that practice is just for fun or for a specific reason, but it shows one thing again : Rally is the mother of racing.....
In Germany everbody watches F1, and all you see here concerning Rally is the TV apperance at either 11 o'clock pm or 8 am.... I'm really tired of watching those hightech cars driving on these uninspired huuuge look-all-the-same courses in a unspectacular way....
Would be interesting how Schumacher performs in Rally... perhaps on a new fiat abbarth .... would be kinda cool, although his millions of dollars might keep him driving slowly.....

hehe yes, Rallying is definetly the ultimate in terms of car control. I would have loved it if Schumacher accepted the challenge Colin McRae put to him, that would have been fun :D

Well, MS would love to accept it, but problem is, that his insurance policy is very expensive and has a lot of "don't's" in, plus he has some kind of contract with ferrari not to drive any other car and so on. So there are paper limitations. He said several times, that he would love to try those things.

ALso for example, reigning DTM champion entered rally of sweden in WRC skoda and was doing very good. So rally is used for brusing up your skills.

How dare can you complain, isn't Tilke one of your fellow countryman ? :)
Michael being so talented I'm sure he'll do nicely in Rally too.
How would Michael manage racing ... in Nascar ? ( just curious )

Hmm who or what is Tilke ?
Well, he is talented, but Rally racing and grand prix racing are really two different pairs of shoes, so I think Nascar and F1 can be compared better and so he would be probably a winner in that, too...

Herman Tilke is the German "architect" who "designed" some of the most boring tracks for F1: Bahrain, China, Malaysia, Hockenheim and USA.
It looks like the only person impressed by his "talents" is $Bernie.

Bahrain is a track he made which I really love, maybe it's just me but I really like that track.

Well, it's kind a off topic, and it is surely discussed in the F1 forum, but take out most of the electronics (I want to see spinning wheels, cars flying out of corners) and then show me interesting races, won on the track not in the pits, and not in China and Bahrein but Suzuka and Spa, and I'll watch every race; until that happens I stay with Petter&Co, watching real racing....

He'd get bored, then crash and die.

Not before he makes some crazy maneuvre to get everyones attention and then find a way to take them all out with him!

I'm sure that Schumy would do great in rally, and I don't see why he wouldn't be able to drive the Fiat Abarth-- Ferrari is owned by Fiat. Who knows, he probably DOES do rally on his own private 40 acre backyard somewhere. And for whoever's information, the drivers in F1 do a LOT more than the electronics, and many times the electronics have been removed because they perform too well and theres too big of a difference between manufacturers. Remember, F1 is a battle between the drivers, not the cars. The cars are just *****ed about by the drivers, thats all. lol

Well, it is possibly that he would be a great Rally driver, hard to say until it happens... Of course F1 drivers can drive, but if you think back 10 or 20 years ago, driving a F1 car was much more difficult...

But what is not true, is the "it's alla bout the drivers" thing.... put Schumacher in a Minardi and he will never see the Top 10, but any other driver in the Ferrari and he
will be in the top 5...

I thought he entered that "best drivers of the world" team event in a non-Ferrari, in which he went out in the beginning rounds. Then again, I don't know about his insurance policy, though it does make more sense as to why he didn't accept.

wrc drivers simply amaze me...i put them right up there with F1 drivers and i think its quite a bit more dangerous than F1...i mean random variables like hitting a tree, fixing the car mid-stage, dealing with police, dealing with changing surfaces!...that takes alot more than skill at the wheel...i love watching wrc...

i remember watching speedvision a few years ago and one of their commentators asked ralf schumacher if he would ever be interested in competing in nascar and he just looks back at him confused and says "what is nascar?"...haha, i fell outta my chair on that one

I imagine rallying with Schumacher would be quite dangerous, he'd probably ram Solberg off the road with any given chance

Yeah probably, but he would have to catch him first :sly:

We will know if Schumacher is good only by one way !
Put him ina a Lancia Delta S4, to drive some super stages in Finland, and then, see waht happens !

Idon´t watch F1 here, i prefer to wait to see the WRC on AXN.

WRC RULES !!!!!! :)

Ok, Im behind the times, what challenge did McRae put to MS?

did anyone watch "race of champion"?
last time I saw Loeb vs Michael with F360 and buggy
michael did it pretty well ... He beat Loeb many times

If michael is only allowed to drive ferraris... How about Ferrari Making a car that meets the limits of the new WRC rules. Because they dont care about Rally anymore?
Dont like the stricter engine and chasis rules?
