From my local news.

Not the reason I wanted for my local track to make the headlines:(

Summary: A large fire (5 appliances attending) broke out in the Special ONE Racing team area....
Was supposed to be a restart at Lydden Hill with all electric vehicles.

Hope no one is hurt and fire is soon out.

(Mods, if this in the wrong area please move. Thank You)

Update: A suspected cause has been identified by the team.

article: https://www.kentonline.co.uk/canter...ircuit-started-in-battery-of-electric-290535/

“Video evidence shows that the fire was initiated at the battery of the car while it was in the team area charging, but it is not clear why this happened,” FIA World Rallycross Championship (WRC) officials said.

“It was evident that only extremely quick thinking by the team members saved them from injury.”

If this is correct then it highlights an issue with electric vehicles; just like with petrol engined vehicles we have to be vigilant when charging/fueling them.
In fact advice for the mounting of chargers on commercial buildings has changed to recommend the chargers be mounted on poles away from the building.

Glad no one was hurt, things (even expensive cars) can be replaced easier than people.
