There's a great debate going on in one of the other threads about which cars are significant enough to be showcased in Forza 4's Autovista mode.

I'll start things off. One of the more controversial cars is the Mazda Miata. I say the first generation Miata deserves a slot for revitalizing the roadster market and reminding people how rewarding a light, great handling car can be to drive. It has since sold a ton and is THE grassroots racing entry point for a ton of enthusiasts.

Disagree? Tell me why. Got other cars you want to see in Autovista? Speak up!

Well, it obviously depends on the overall amount of cars that Autovista will include.
I'll say this, though: If the Ferrari California is part of it, there's little reason to exclude the NA Miata

Golf GTI mk1, for single handedly killing the sports car industry at the time and allowing people to carry luggage and go fast, without breaking down or the bank.

Bugatti Veyron, for being without question the best feat of automotive engineering ever to grace the public road.

Ferrari F40, because it is a Ferrari F40.

KIA 'see apostrophe d' for being a reasonably priced car (and because of top gear)

Aston Martin DB9/S for the sheer beauty of the thing.

I'll also add the Ur-Quattro for its dominant 4wd racing success and changing the face of rally forever.

Personally, I don't like disparity in games. I'd want every car in the game to have some feature, even if limited, in AutoVista mode. It seems we won't get that so I'm all for iconic cars, cars with some sort of racing pedigree, and the like. It'll come down to preference. I'm not a fan of SUVs and I don't care how awesome an SUV is, I don't care to use this mode with an SUV. I'm a euro car fan so obviously I'd wan't it all working with mk1 rabbit gtis to e30 M3s more than most other cars.

A few cars I would like to see in AutoVista:

Ferrari F40, because it is a Ferrari F40.

The Veyron leaves me cold, but they'd be insane for not giving it the Autovista treatment. It's such a crazy feat of engineering, and it looks like nothing else out there.

Quite right. Also, Mercedes-Benz 300SL, please.

This undeserved hype is the main reason I want to vote for it not getting any special treatment, like Autovista. The car is impressive on paper and comes with a monstrous engine, but it's a simple-minded automotive design that's just as much primitive as it is a "best feat of automotive engineering".

The only reason I was going to shelf those reservations regarding the Cyberpig (Veyron) is that it might be neat to get intimate with the massive W16 engine, four turbochargers, ten radiators, and so forth.

What I'd really like to get my virtual hands on and spend a lot of time with is a Formula One car. I reckon that would be a bit of a problem considering that Codemasters holds the F1 video game license, but there must have been some loophole by which Polyphony was able to get a couple Ferrari F1 cars into GT5. Maybe it would be possible to feature older F1 cars, which would be really neat. I would love to see a classic F1 car from any number of bygone eras, or even the V10s of maybe 2004 like the F2004, MP4-19, or R24.

Tesla should be a given. The Veyron is also a given because it's just so ridiculous.

I don't get what's so great about a Buick Regal GNX, so I guess of the cars in F3 that might be the most interesting... or the most laughable. Either is fine.

Oh, and I think the classic Miura is pretty groovy because of all the detail, so maybe that, but maybe there's nothing to say about it.

I was waiting to see if somebody went this route. I'm hoping for some historically significant race cars. As an American I'd like to see the GT40. I think the Lancia Stratos HF would be great too. It's just such a great looking car, whether a street production model or one in full race livery.

E-type jag please.

Reason- why not?

+1:tup: and the c, d types are welcome too!

Countach, 911, MB 300sl, Cobra 427, BMW 507 & z8 roadster, 1st gen miata, 3rd gen rx7, ford gt, deloran, veyron, ferrari dino and gto, plus I'm sure some early porsche and ferrari race cars wouldn't get any complaints!

I know my selection is a little mainstream, but since we already have a taste of these beauties, a full meal would guarantee satisfaction:)

Nissan Skyline GTR R32-This car was simply a beast. In fact, special rules were made to ban this car from racing it was that good. It effectively gave the Skyline the name of godzilla.

Nissan Skyline GTR R34-This car was an automotive genius back during it's rain of terror and glory. Unfortunatly, people who liked The Fast and the Furious too much got ahold of this car, and either riced it out, or imported it illegally, banning it from being imported into the US for most likely, all of its life.

Nissan Skyline GTR R35 (2012)-This is a car thats not really a car. It's really a Playstation on wheels. The shear engineering behind this car is truly amazing, and on par to the Bugatti Veyron, though both were designed to do something completely different. All the GTR needs is two turbo's and 530 horsepower to carry it up to 196mph, and an incredibly fast time of 7:24 in the wet on the Nurburgring. That's faster than a Ferrari. In fact, in every way its better. It has Air Conditioning, a kicking Bose Radio, four seats and a price tag of $90k. Not cheap, but it's better than paying the big bucks for a Ferrari. It reached times not possible, in fact it's heavier, and has less power than a Lamborghini Gallardo LP540-4, yet it's faster, which shouldn't work on paper, but it does!

Ferrari F40-The main competition for the Porsche 959. THis was also the first car to brake the 200mph record, and was the turning point in supercar history. Though sadly, it really wasn't the template for modern day supercars. Instead they went for the Porsche 959, which was a Sega on wheels.

Porsche 959-The template for modern day supercars like the Bugatti Veyron, Lexus LFA, and Nissan GTR. These are all computer controlled monsters of the road, and that's why I think it should get a mention in Autovista.

Ferrari 250 GTO-Going by what Autovista is supposed to do, interacting with cars that most wouldn't be able to do, I think this deserves a mention. It might not be a historic winning race car, mostly because the road-racing days were over by the time Ferrari made the GTO, and it certainly wasn't technology with four wheels and an engine, mostly because the entire car was made by the hands of small children in Argentina, that's why each panel isn't the same as the one on the next car. It's just the fact that, Bill Gates can't touch one, and the BBC wasn't able to scrounge out the money to insure the car when host Jeremy Clarkson was going to drive it for the 599 GTO review. It's simply, untouchable.

Ford Mustang (1964)-I really don't like this car, but I feel it should be an Autovista piece because it was a car that launched an era. In fact, the US marines aired an ad campaign that said: "The Beach Boys, Apple Pie, and the '67 Mustang, three things worth fighting for." And I think its something worth fighting for Autovist Status.

BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution-This car was the flagship of the 3-series, one of the most reliable, and affordable series of it's cars at the time. It was sporty, comfortable, and very special. One car many people hold dear to it's hearts. You can't find too many things that throw back to the original 3-series in BMW's lineup, in fact the only things the E92 and the E30 share are the Kidney Grills and badges, but you can find bits in pieces of it on many current cars today, and some people hold it as the car that really launched BMW. All I know is, they wouldn't be where they are now without it.

This is a pretty ridiculous statement. I mean that with all do respect. BTW 250mph is ALLOT faster than 200mph which the Spec V R35 doesnt even reach. Top speed claimed by Nissan is 193. There is more engineering genius in the wing (nevermind the drivetrain, and aerodynamics) in the Veyron than there is in entire R35.

Bugatti Power-Weight: 0.523

2012 GTR Power-Weight: 0.305

Statistically speaking, on paper, the Veyron should be faster around a track than the GTR. Now yes, it is faster with top speed, and 0-60 times, but that wasn't what the GTR was made for. It was made to go around a track, faster than what is statistically possible with the specs of the car, which is an engineering feat.

Truly, both these cars are engineered very, very, very well. But both are designed to do completely different things. The GTR being faster around a track, and the Bugatti being faster through a straight line. And I highly doubt that the designers imagined these cars competing together on the track, which is why for both, they can only be compared from an engineering standpoint, both doing these statistically not possible.

I'm actually going to edit my statement, looking back at what I said, it really makes about 5% sense. Now lets get back to the discussion and stop boring the people who even looked at this post!

Power to weight means almost nothing when it comes to cornering.
