Almost 1 year ago I lost a true mate on another forum that I met. I never personally met him but you really get to know people. I knew it was coming, having battled several uncureable diseases over the course of a few years I knew him. When he suddenly stopped posting I knew something was up, it wasn't like him. I came across his obituary 2 weeks later and was deeply saddened. So today, please remind yourself that there really is people on the other side of the screen, even though it's easy to forget sometimes.

I always remember there are real people behind the screen. Everytime. I met my wife on an internet forum, and I've also met some of my best friends that way. That should be enough of a reminder for me.

Sorry for your loss.

Met some of my best friends over the internet =) as well as my first love, oh well ! people forget what they say sometimes will hurt others.

I usually image GTP as a pub where each little section has its own table, the mods are the hosts and the premos take their seats at the bar.

One day this image will come to fruition, I'm sure!

Just made me think though, if I was to die I don't expect anyone would know. Sites get blocked in China all the time and it could just be put down to that.

I better make my wife post a message of my passing on such occasion. Can't have everyone thinking I'm just drunk and unable to post when I'm really 6ft under!

Always makes you remember that it's people that are posting and they have individual lives. Sad to hear though Slashfan. RIP.

There has been a lot of tragedy around here recently. Certainly does make you think.

Oh Shem, will there be a lock in? ;)

No need for the sympathy guys it's ok now but I just wanted to remind you all in case you forgot.

Makes you think in a hundred years the Internets gona be littered with accounts of dead people, creepy .

Very good picture of it. 👍 This thread by Slashfan is a good reminder. I often act like a resident drunk, and start breaking glasses. I needed to be more humble again, and this is a good reminder, because I've been treating gtp like a video game at times.

I sometimes forget Slash's realization and took GTP as a video game, similar to a6m5's response. But as I skimmed around the forum more, I slowly realized that each regular member was a living soul. And that's the pivoting point of the interwebs. I haven't thought of it that way the very first few months of having internet connection, and this thread made it like a mantra.

I remember a thread that talked about what would GTP look like if it physically existed, and most of the posters came up with your description.

Can someone find me a link to this thread? Just curious.

THe guy from my audi site died of a brain tumor 2 years ago, though I didn't knew him personnally, I was a bit struck by it.
