Making MP3, wma's etc. from analogue sources

how do i make digital files such as MP3s from tapes or records....can this be accomplished using the mic. jack on my sound card windows media player....?

also, is there a program that can convert wma into mp3?

i already have this installed on my machine....


DOH!!

i didnt know it could convert stuff, i just used it for *ahem* "backing up" my CDs...

and there is teh auxilliary input recorder right there too...:)

There is an article in one of mags on ripping records and cassettes. Basically you just connect the record player up to the PC using an auxillary input and record it using a program like LP Ripper. Then convert them.
