This has been a big story in the UK over the last few weeks. Rahan Arshad is a cabbie from Cheadle Hulm near where I live, his family was murdered, he did a runner to Pakistan, but in the mean time Police arrested two people under suspicion of the murders, today he come back to the UK and was picked up at Heathrow. What do you think is going on?

Personally I have met
Rahan before. On several occasions I've even been in the back of his cab after a night out. He's a very nice bloke, or rather he seems a very nice bloke, whether he is or isn't has a big quesion mark over it now. It's kind of surreal when someone you know appears in the papers one day connected to somthing like this.

If he's innocent it's especially tough. You're mourning the death of your wife and children while they're deciding whether to put you away for life. Meanwhile you're thinking they're wasting resources investigating you while the real killer is getting away. Talk about adding insult to injury.

On the otherhand, he could be guilty - in which case you'll get to say you rode in the back of a homicidal maniac's cab and lived.

I just can't see him being guilty, the big mistake was for him to run, but with the spate of honour killings and what not that have hit the news in the last year I can see why he might panic and run. The problem is no matter how nice he seemed, you never know what he's really like.
