that news story
A man in the US has received a six-month jail sentence for yawning "boisterously" in court.

Clifton Williams, 33, was attending the Will County Courthouse in Illinois to hear the sentencing of his cousin, who had pleaded guilty to a drugs charge.

I ceratinly did not know that you could go to jail for this sort of thing!

P.S. I didnt know which subforum to put it in so I just put it here, hope thats OK, if not please move it ;)

Next time I'm in a courtroom, I'm going to remind myself to drink 10 litres of coffee so I don't suffer the same fate as this guy.

It's contempt of court to make a mockery and all that.

Seriously? I mean, seriously?

I like Mafs' idea on the coffee. That, or just stay out of court entirely.

There's a difference between yawning because you have to yawn and yawning as a display of contempt.

I would have thought the Judge would eject the relative from the courtroom before it got to this point.

Yeah, surely the judge would have to give some sort of warning instead of just going "6 months for that *slams hammer down*"
