Manufacturers comp wk 10 Jaguar poll

Remember this poll only lasts for 4 days. Then the winner will be placed in a two day poll with the winner of the poll from the competing manufacturer. Good luck!

Do not vote for yourself, or you will be disqualified.

Er... wouldn't BESTuner voting for one of its members' shots be a "conflict of interests"? Or was that speedy_2 forgetting to log out?

Since I'm from Chicago, I think I'll go make a few more screennames. 💡

Yeah That was me. And I just voted again. Probably not supposed to. Can someone remove my Bestuner vote?? Sorry about that. :ouch:

Done. :) The name is still there, but the vote isn't.

Wow!! 14 votes already!! :dopey: Thanks for the votes, they're extemely appreciated.

Went with Slips, good colors.

That blue tinted Jaguar XJ220 shot really looks great and fantastic, so don't get me wrong. It has very handy Photoshop work and is very well done, and is probably the best looking shot in the poll, but what has happened to the traditional GT4 shot where proper Arperature, Shutter Speed, WB, Exposure levels, and clever angles are the keys to winning? It seems of late that the shots with the fancy Photoshop work with the Zoom, Radial, and Motion Blurs are drawing in all of the votes, and I am beginning to loose intrest. It seems it's becoming too easy to win for those that have skills in the computer programs and not for those with skills with the camera. I know I sound like a winer and a scrouge, and you can flame and disagree and tell me to leave, but that's just my point of view. I know I am kind of going back on my word when I encouraged using a lot of Photoshop, but the competitions are begining to loose there creative nature where the shots with the most clever and thought out angles are being overlooked due to flashy Photoshop work. Sorry!:)
Oh, and by the way, I voted for atlop's White Jaguar. Great contrast, and vibrant colors!👍

440, In my opinion, photoshop can only take you so far.. When it comes down to it, the original image is what carries most of the weight. Photoshop helps, but the overall vision of the photographer is what creates a striking image. You could photoshop a crappy shot all day & its still gonna be a crappy shot.

440, I can see where your point is coming from ;) , but I agree with DO. 👍 If the pic isn't nice itself, the PSsed version won't be nice either. I just try to take the shot with the best angle and start PSsing it, if possible with blur, because that just looks freaking cool to me. And, ironically, I learned a big part of the blur PSsing from you.:scared:

Good composition is always important
but EV, white balance, and satuation setting are very important as well
with a good setting can help making a better shot in less steps in photoshop

I do agree the PS-made motion blur is a bit overused in recent comp
(yeah my bad :P )
but without a good background and lighting angles
its still a crappy shot
IMO, I don't mind everyone to use photoshop to add motion blur when it is needed
because it is not a major factor why I pick a shot

congratulation sejtur

Ah, yes and no. I understand that it's the vision of the photographer that creates a striking image and you have to have that creative, imaginative mind to come up with good stuff. (which you, DO, have every week.) There is no question about that. But you can do quite a bit for a photo with very little Photoshop and change it from a dull, boring shot to a very eye-catching and interesting shot. Now of course, you can't take a completely retarded shot and make it into something spectacular, but you can take your ordinary, non-vibrant and stationary shot and make it look completely different from it's original boring state. But aside from that, I guess I am just running low on inspiration and motivation and am just getting a little burnt out from the same style shots that win every week. Perhaps I will just have to create a motion blur shot and see how it stacks up with the rest.

Thanks, I'm glad I can give a little and give others ideas and examples, because that's how I got to the point I am today. That's the best way to learn, by seeing other's work. There are plenty of other members on this site that I am sure are more worthy of praise than myself (ie: franz, jmx, franz, Div, tree, franz and the list goes on...), and that's what makes this site great for everyone.:) I will shape up now I suppose! What's up with the site? There are always errors that will not let me post, saying I have not entered enough characters. I've been trying to post this for a while now!

Wow, franz must be twice as good as everyone else! :D

And now, on a more serious note...
PS-ing your pics is and important part of these competitions. amd I agree that it has been a bit overused of late. The main reason I like to put cool motion blurs on some of my pics is because, when I take the pics, the little thumbnail in the photo-taking screen always looks so much better than the final picture, so I set the shutter speed as high as it will go and add my own blur in PS.
