Marty Ludwig Pilots Sunfire to FF Unibody World Record

Powered by GM's new(er) 2.2L Ecotec 4 banger, Marty Ludwig recently set the record for the worlds fastest unibody front wheel drive vehicle with a 7.97 second pass @182mph, also seting the 1/4mile world speed record in the same category.

The motor in this car is a 16 valve turbo 4 with over 1000 horsepower sitting on more than 50% of the stock Ecotec internals found in your everyday Sunfire or Cavalier.

They say the high point is their new automatic transmission thats allowing for the faster pass. The motor itself is also capable of being pushed further.

On a side note, these cars are surprisingly quick in stock form. at only 126whp and 135ft/lbs pf torque, the powerband and wide-set ratios of the 5 speed transmission is a lethal weapon behind the hands of a skilled driver. There are rumors that a stock Ecotec can break the 15 second barrier, and its rated at 16.2!!!

Well, thats that, just a bit of J-Body pride to pass around.
