StarLight Garage presents a "Dreammachine" and his creator Wil de Groot who makes from scratch this beautiful Mazzer Roadster, no it's not a Maserati 450 S or pretending to be one, its a joint venture between vintage and modern elements and style.
Enjoy this stunning home-made one-off Mazzer roadster.

Wil de Groot is a man with a mission, followed his own dream and decided to make his own car.
Making drivable roadsters from scratch and built around a "shabby" Maserati Quattroporte from 1980.
Wil de Groot’s Mazzer roadster is a home-made, custom-built dream car that slightly resembles the spirit of the mighty Maserati 450s. It’s not actually like the latter because Wil didn’t want his car to be a Maserati replica but this roadster is surely a cross bread of a vintage and a modern drive.
When he started with it's project, he removed all the mechanical components like the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, instruments, door latches.... much of the remainder was parted out or went to the scrap yard.
After removing a lot of grease and dirt he designed and built a sports car chassis and body to go around all the components. Because the engine is a close cousin of the original V8 designed for the mighty Maserati 450S sports racing car of the mid 1950s, he designed the body of his sportscar to vaguely resemble the 450S in silhouette. But with no intention at all to build a replicar.
After more than twelve years of dreaming and building the car, Wil has finally got is Mazzer roadster seasoned up in all blue. Everything in his electrifying DIY (do it yourself) car, except the nose which is still in primer, is colored blue.
It’s a monochromatic blue. The seats, MOMO steering wheel, Wilton carpet, brake calipers, mirrors and seat belts, all are also painted in blue. The Mazzer roadster features a stock V8 engine (an aluminum 4.9 liter, 4 cam V8 with four 2bbl Weber DCNF carburetors) from the Maserati Quattroporte with other components all assembled to make the Mazzer. For example a heavy duty 10" Mcleod/Borg&Beck clutch, for a Chrysler Hemi, bolts to the fly-wheel.
The biggest problem to solve was the US spec Quattroporte engine, that was reconfigured to mate to the Chrysler 727 trans. It's virtually useless in any other Maserati for that reason and makes the Tremec
5- speed over-drive transmission very difficult to adapt to it. The ring & pinion gears are Gleason type and got a 3.54 ratio. Producing a massive 250 HP, the estimated max. speed will be around 250 km/h.
The center of the chassis has removable aluminum panels so that the bottom of the car is completely flat and fairly smooth. The wheels, 19" in front and 18" in back, were custom made by HRE.
Estimated car weight is about 930 kg (2050 lbs) assembled.
Wil’s creation was the eye-catcher at the Belle Macchine D’Italia, the largest Italian car show, this spectacular annual show is organized by Bruno Guarini.
A remarkable man and his machine.
