I was just wondering if there was a universal way to get the max speed out of say, a fully modified production car. Would it just be to use the tranny trick, some hard suspension settings, and R5s?

You should check out the '300MPH Club' thread. Although most of the cars are Race Class, there are some production cars amongst the lot, specifically the Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car. Also, there is a lot of info mentioned on how to extract a maximum speed from a given car.
Hope this helps.

Go on the Test Track, remove all downforce, put on N1s (I read somewhere that the less grip your tires have, the higher top speed you'll attain), lower the car completely, max out the horsepower, and really stretch the gears.

These are just common sense facts, as I'm sure there are many more specifics on reaching a higher speed.

Thanks for pointing out the 300mph thread, but as a side note the R390 GT1 is classed as a race car in both it's forms.

N1s won't necessarily help you much. The harder the tyres, the better the straight-line speed, but you try getting an Audi R8 around the Test Course Turn at 280mph on N1s

If you wanna read all 80 pages of the 300mph Club

Actually, the gamephysics are screwed, so the more grip you have, even more downforce, the faster the car will go. Try out one of the settings in my sig, and fiddle around a bit, and you´ll see.

Thank you I appreciated it. I actually did go to the 300mph club first but At first all I saw was race cars. Thank you!

Good point... It's one of those barely legal street cars, that often get banned in countries such as Australia.
