Hi there,

Could not find an answer, so: Can somebody tell me what the limit is of the GT2 garage? And while I'm at it: do I really need a PS1 Memorycard or can I save the game on the HDD? Thx for the answers and sorry if there's already a thread about this....

You don't need a real PS1 memory card, you create a virtual one in the HDD, under the Game menu on the home screen.

But yes, 100 cars is the maximum number allowed unfortunately.

I traded my cars to 4 different garages by category in otherwise static games.

I've hit the 100 car mark once or twice, but I still have 6 or 7 memory cards and the PS1 (PSX). :D I try to give myself 2 My Garage saves for every game I have a save file for. The first 99 or 100 cars up until a certain point and the second card for RM cars and built up\tuned versions of my preferred or favorite cars. :)

Have a good one, best of the season to you and yours...

I remember trying to break the 100 car limit, but I didn't really have much luck. I may try it again though.

There used to be a code (way back in the old GTH and skywwalker days) that could force almost a thousand cars into your garage. However, any number over 100 had the same restrictions in buying or winning more, and the extra cars were all 'empty' with the default '0000' part codes or possibly random numbers, I don't remember. In any case, they weren't usable in that form. You could take a GS Pro and edit them directly, but it was a lot of trouble for something that didn't really matter much in the first place and wasn't particularly useful when you could pick up a new memory card for $10, copy your save over, sell a bunch, and buy or trade or win new ones. You could save it to your memory card and the cars you changed would stay the same, but it wasn't good for much beyond hybrid building from the ground up or for bragging rights. I also never trusted it much for the simple fact that all those cars have to be rewriting something, though the game seemed to work just fine.

All of that pretty much REQUIRES an old Gameshark Pro (or another way to edit the garage code, I'm not getting into that) and an old-style PS1 to plug it into; I'd hate to try it with one of the CDX versions that later replaced the GS Pro. But anyway, you're out of luck on the PS3.

Hmm. Don't you break the 100 car limit simply trying to keep one of each car you need for the Manufacturer's events?

I remember my game glitching when I had 100 cars, any car left at the top of the list would be affected. Once, I left my Lotus Élan S2 at the top...after doing some races, all of a sudden it had 2290HP and weighed 1180lbs. I used it on the test track, it's engine note was all off, but it went like stink. Could not turn very well though.

It's the garage thief, he's warning you that he's going to take all of your cars....

I remember hitting the limit with just Nissans. Kaz's love for Skylines were apparent even then.
