So I was tuning a Autozam AZ-1 today, I had just started and i had pretty much kitted it out with everything i could. Tuned the suspension and nothing else so far. I took it for a lap around Tsukuba Circuit and in a couple of laps i managed a 1:06.806. I looked at my other times for the track in different cars and noticed, it wasn't too shabby a time at all! In disbelieve at the tiny cars performance i checked out the real world lap times for Tsukuba on this site : http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/tsukuba.html and was amazed at some of the cars the lap was faster than. A Lamborghini Diablo and a Ferrari 456 GT even appeared in the list! I'm by no means a good GT5 player, in fact I'm OK at best nor do i know the reliability of the site, so it had me wondering.

How quickly can you get it round? And which cars on this list did you outrun?

You were using racing soft tires. This is why you were going so much faster than the cars you listed.

Fair enough then, did a lap in the comfort softs the car came with and could only muster up a 1:18.223, i knew tyres made a difference, never realised how much of difference before now!

The difference between comfort soft and racing soft is massive, as you have seen.

The comparison is of real life, not in GT5.

In real life there are many other factors and complications like driver confidence and the ability to take corners at that sort of speed.

Compare a Lamborghini on the same track on GT5 and check the lap times.

I'm just outlining the fact that a modified Autozam on GT5, racing against real life cars isn't very realistic so the comparison means nothing IMO.

Sorry to be so blunt. :) :P

Real life can be pretty glitchy at times. Check the website http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/tsukuba.html
An Impreza STi went around the track in 0:01:000 :boggled:

Nice post.. I have the same dubts about car performance and lap times in gt5 and in real life.. For example now I'm comparing my lap time on Nürburgring Nordschleife and a lap times list on wikipedia..tell u the true I take around 20 sec from real life..using Sport Soft tires..

the Autozam is still an awesome car, especially when you put some ballast up front, wish there was an AZ-1 racing league!

The main difference between real life and the game is that in real life you would worry about hitting the walls and dying.

Clarkson drove the last nsx around Laguna Seca and couldn't match his lap time he set in GT4 but he said that in the right hands the nsx could do that time.

That time with the Subaru around Tsukuba is awesome,Bugatti is soo slow now, should be the fastest thing this side of a space shuttle.:)

You mainly can't compare GT5 to real life because while GT is a good simulator, there are faults here and there.

And don't try and compare non-stock tires times in GT5 to real life, because certain tires in GT5 have unrealistic amounts of grip.

Anyone can beat this real life Tsukuba record set by Tsuchiya in Arta NSX with 51'875 ?

In detail video with car description

Watch the whole video, awesome driving and glorious sounds from the NSX
In real life, the car is Arta NSX 2002, 1150 kg, 480ps+, 289 lb/ft

Use the Arta NSX '00 in GT5 and stock tires it came with -RH, no power mod, only suspension, LSD, downforce and transmission allowed to change.

No assists allowed, as in real life, the Arta NSX Tsuchiya drove don't have TCS, ASM or ABS. Obviously no SRF and AS :).

This could be a good idea for WRS event:sly:

Wonder how much faster it would have gone in the hands of someone that knew how to drive.
