2002 saw the launch of the MX5 SP. The MX-5 SP was developed and sold in Australia and its turbocharged engine produced 157 kW (211 bhp) at 6800 rpm. Only 100 of these cars were built. The SP was very expensive in comparison to a standard MX5 at the time but offered blistering performance. It has fast become a cult classic and sought after model in Australia.

Careful! This model could statistically be the fastest of the entire NB generation. It even outclasses MazdaSpeed MX-5 in terms of power by small margin (210 vs 180).

Good choice for which I'm going to vote, although deep inside it would be hard to choose that model over the imposing MazdaSpeed one.

A good solution would be to keep one non-turbocharged NB model and one of the two turbocharged models (either M.S. or SP). That is how you keep the Miata lineup clean and useful simultaneously.
