Ok so up until recently we all thought that the size limit for a Wankel rotary engine was 4 rotors, as per the amazing Le Mans winning Mazda 787B racer, with it's 4 rotor engine.

That is until the guys at Pulse Performance Race Engineering in New Zealand decided to make a 6 rotor engine by basically adding 3 (that's right, THREE) Mazda RX7/RX8 13B engines (or the equivalent of two Mazda Cosmo 3 rotor engines)! Well it was way more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea. The end result is a naturally aspirated 6 rotor engine, 3924cc and 813hp at wheels @ 8,800rpm, 759Nm at wheels @ 5,000rpm.

The car they chose to fit this engine to, is a 1974 Mazda RX-4 two door fast back, which is a beaut on it's own. They claim this monster is still street legal and driven!!!

That is TOTALLY BAD A$$. Its even better since one of me fellow kiwis sorted this.

Also the RX4 has the best shape of all the early Rotors in my opinion.
