I would love to see a naturally aspirated model of the gen 1 rx-7. There is not 1 rx-7 in GT right now that is N/A.

Got tired of waiting for PD to add the car. So I bought one and took it to the track. Of course, in stock trim it's quite anemic. I'll be adding some go-fast parts to this for next season. I've already upgraded the wheels and tires, springs, shocks, and sway bars. Now it just needs more power.

If you find the rear suspension binding, try removing the rear sway bar. And a good upgrade to start would be headers and remove the old cats. Then scrap the emissions and smooth over the carb. I have a pace setter header I'd be willing to send your way, and a couple of Nikki's to play for shipping and a small handling fee if you are interested. I also have the write up for emissions removal if your of a mind, I'll see if I can scrounge that up as well.

Oh, in also have some spare ignitor and coils if you want to do a direct fire for the leading spark plugs.
You know what, why don't you just get a trailer and come pick up my old 7...

Hah hah, yeah I've been doing quite a bit of research. I went with Racing beat springs, sway bars, and Tokico Blue shocks. I only had the sway bars in for the final track day of the season and came home deciding I was either putting the stock rear back in or disconnecting it entirely. The car was pretty stable and predictable under throttle or coasting but any amount of trail braking would cause the rear end to snap loose. I'm going to do the Racing Beat long primary street port exhaust next. I haven't decided what to do on the top end though. I still want to daily the car so I want the A/C and cruise control to work. The A/C actually isn't working now though. I had it filled and it worked for a week before the compressor seized. Even when it was working it was stalling the motor at idle though. I have to decide if its worth fixing...if I go without, I could just replace the whole intake with a weber and be done with it. I've read up on hogging out the Nikki and it just doesn't seem worth the trouble.

Also, I'm in the finishing stages of rewiring my REPU from scratch and adding ITB EFI. I didn't want to dump any money into the RX7 until that was finished, but there was a delay with the intake manifold getting built and the truck has been sitting for a year. I only recently got the interior back together with miata bucket seats, new carpet, and all new wiring and relays. All that's left is the intake and engine wiring harness...but I can't do that until I know the wire length of all the sensors.

You got a REPU?! I am jealous! Clearly this isn't your first soirée with the rotaries. I recently pulled the 12a out of my FB and found the rear housing to be extremely flaked out. So now I am looking to swap in a v8 (please, put the pitch forks down) since 12a parts are hard to come by and not so cheap. Still got enough good parts to make a single rotor too, so I plan on taking the eshaft to a machine shop and setting up a single rotor build for a bike or little dune buggy.
When you start getting into the meat of it, you should make a thread for the two rides, show off those old school rotaries and the work you're doing. If there is anything I can help with, or a part you might need, I got plenty of FB/12a junk in the garage. And a TII trans if you wanna upgrade that...

Sorry, pitchfork is staying up, there are plenty of options besides a 12a for that RX7! You can get 13b motors pretty easily and if you know the right people 12a parts aren't hard to find. A TII swap or Renesis would be a hoot. Slightly more power without turning the front end into a plowfest.

However, a single rotor project isn't a bad idea either. Check out Atkins for what they offer.

As far as parts go, my car had 20k on it when I picked it up early last year. It's got 27k now...because I'm not in the business of preserving cars that were meant to be driven. The first few months I had the car I felt I should keep it original...but driving it original is only fun for so long, and I didn't over pay much for getting a low mile car. It cost about what it would to have an average example shipped from a non-rust-belt state. It runs fine, starts on a dime, (except for today because it sat for 2 weeks covered in snow in sub-freezing weather and the battery is dead). It just needs more power. So the exhaust will go in, maybe March. I want to catch a driving school in April, and that will open up a ton of additional driving events for me to attend. I also need to sort out a racing seat that sits lower...as you can see, when I put a helmet on, there isn't much head room. Oh, and there's the other whacky issues like fuel starvation under hard left cornering, hesitation after WOT through 1st and 2nd going uphill, and the pesky oil light that comes on also under hard left cornering. Most can be solved with an upgraded carb and a better fuel pump.
